Listening to his trainer At the weekend, got the impression he might run him if the fav doesn’t make it.
Should that happen he won’t be 33/1 anymore.
Its nrnb so might as well give it a go imo, if you like him.

Corbetts Cross has been declared for the Ascot Chase - set to take on L'Homme Presse and Pic d'Orhy

Has this Ascot meeting not been terrible for horses at Cheltenham in recent years? I have it in my head that I tell myself to avoid horses who run at this at Cheltenham.

      • Corbetts might as well try and get a big pot at the weekend as he's not winning the GC.

Probably not, but could run a big race.
One could probably say the same about all of them bar the fav, if wanted to.

I think the ground has played a big part in recent years, been really soft or heavy which would put me off with Cheltenham in mind.

Don’t recall many doing well at both meetings. Twiston horse was running well after winning at Ascot, forgot the name, but ultimately fell at Cheltenham.

            • Corbetts may skip Ascot due to drying ground as per trainer

Perfect, always said he'd be better going straight to the GC, fresh as a daisy.

                      • I'd say that's a decent enough prep for Corbetts myself.

A trip far too short against a course specialist and all round decent horse under his optimum conditions.

My concern would be his jumping. Just isn’t fluent enough jumper at all.

He’ll get left behind and then pass beaten horses imo.

This is the issue, I guess. Still high on a few, wasn't all though.

Could see him stay on for a place, that's all. Nothing beats GDC anyway.
