But having the chance to prove it is going to be interesting.
No doubt he would be a huge runner in the Ryanair, but I would be amazed if that was what the owner wanted this season.
It could become a fall back next season I guess, but he’s won the BANC and thus far shown no weakness in his ability to stay.

    • The information wasn't that he would go Ryanair, only that it was a possibility/option. Big difference.

Maybe he was just an outstanding horse in the BANC a bit like Ballyburn in the Gallagher's. They can't help who else is in there. Both won with ease and both have taken a good step forward in their new seasons. He stayed well enough and more in the BANC in testing conditions and was very strong through the line then and today, but of course he does still has it to prove.
Agree, he could be anything, my point was (probably not made well) that GDC doesn't have that stamina question to answer so to have run that well over a completely inadequate trip he would be the one I take going forward (for the Gold Cup) and in my mind has to represent better value at 9/2 than F2F at 5/2 given the unknowns about that one.
Of course he could stay, and if he does he'll be a hell of a horse, but as of now it's a guess and 5/2 is plenty short enough for me...

                • I've already got F2F at decent odds and don't normally like betting anything less than 8-10's but might make an acception for him.

Would the play not be wait for the Savills (if following same route as last year) and do a WTAF bet? Most likely get better odds and your not interested really if he gets beat.

                        Not interested?

                            Galopin, because he wins….

Leaving the facetiousness out of this, he just has nothing to prove and we know he’ll be trained to the minute by the best there is….

At the current prices I can definitely see why

I'd probably lean towards Fact To File now if the price wasn't in it.... but the fact he is 'the up and comer' and has the right profile is factored in to the price

As his form is either not Gold Cup relevant, or miles behind Gold Cup relevant

Annoyingly though, I do feel the cautiousness of the bookies with FTF price after the JD win, will prove to be right

I wouldn't have thought this without FTF winning the JD though, but doing it despite drifting, and recalling how much Tony Mullins had a hard-on for him in the preview circuit last year, I feel like he must be a bit of a weapon

I’ve been around long enough and tossed enough vouchers away to know that the extra distance, on the New Course, at championship pace, takes some getting so if there is any stamina question then it’s best to wait until the horse has proved that before parting with cash.
These ‘up and coming’ types are usually 6/1 or bigger at this stage of the season, F2F is less than half that price….
