Comparisons with Minella Indo will be there rightly and wrongly. Though very much worth pointing out the Minella Indo was a two time grade 1 winner over hurdles.
But I do like him, has novice chase form that stacks up well, albeit in defeat. He wasn’t too far behind the best last season.
I’d have liked to have seen them press on early this season and gain experience though (ironically like Minella Indo who had ran twice by this stage of the season)
    20/1 a fair price.
Agreed. He's lightly raced and his runs behind Spillanes Tower and FTF put him right in the mix.

I'd quite like it if he got to Cheltenham without a big win to his name this season as he's the type i could see running a huge race in the Gold Cup, regardless of what happens over the next few months.

Quite typical with HDB runners, I made a note post Cheltenham for this season. Never discount HDB runners regardless of what happens through the season. They are always 100% on top of their game for March.

Depending where he starts off will dictate when I pull the trigger. If it’s an easier assignment then pre race, if it’s at the top table wait as he’ll likely be beaten.

Yep, firmly in the Monty's Star camp this season, despite being against him last season.

I still feel, and I think Henry said something similar, that he was a big baby, last season. I'm now hoping he's grown plenty and can improve plenty as well, in which case, as you note, his form from last season is looking solid, he could go on to be a serious player come March.

          • Racing Post reporting that Spillane’s will head to Kempton (subject to ground), along with Corbett’s Cross, leaving Fact To File to potentially reoppose GDC in the Savills.

I wonder if the JP camp do actually see F2F as a Ryanair type horse while Willie sees him as a Gold Cup horse. They’ve agreed to duke it out at Leopardstown and find out.

Purely my musings and largely based on the F2F Ryanair talk on here from a few months ago.

                • I do have my doubts that both Galopin and F2F will run in the Savills.

                    Not sure why?
To me it’s the right race for both of them and if connections ain’t too sure about them re Cheltenham, they will know a lot more after.
They are imo the best two 3m chasers in Ireland and this is the top 3m race at Xmas in Ireland.
They should both be in it and imo will be.

Could say the same re Lossiemouth and State Man but they are being kept apart. Just have a feeling Galopin will be kept fresher this season as Willie hinted before or perhaps go Tramore.

Yes you could, and I think both them should be in the top race as well.
I do think it’s easier to keep them apart though, neither being owned by JP.

He’s in at Tramore so maybe they felt that was a better prep. Mind you, that looks like being a deep race, if lacking a star.

                              • Galopin very strong in the market for tomorrow.

Hopefully he lays down the law and forces fact to file into the ryanair.
