This could a bit Pie in the Sky but not totally out of the realms...
Impaire Et Passe entered at Sandown on Saturday and has been given a BHA Rating of 157.
If he is beaten or narrowly beats Jango Baie or Kalif in a tight finish and the handicapper leaves him on 157 or drops him a lb or 2, could they go to the Novice Handicap with him, that's his 3 runs and Willie would get him over the distance he wants to run him over for the Festival.
Not Wllie's mo to target (or win) handicap chases, but given his vocal dissatisfaction to the changes, it would be a great 2 fingers to the BHA to go and win it with his Grade 1 2 and half miler anyway.
Not quoted anywhere, but would original bets to win the old Turners stand?
Original bets with some bookies do stand as they mentioned it as a concession.
But he'd also have no fucking chance.
And Willie won't be running a graded horse like that in a handicap unless someone makes him.
IMO.
Such a shame that The Jukebox Man is out as I thought he was really exciting and was looking forward to seeing how he would progress. At least he'll be back next season.
This leaves me with Ballyburn and a little on Dancing City. I've now added Better Days Ahead as third cover. If I could only choose one horse, it would be Ballyburn. There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for him but I'm confident. I've seen people question if he will stay 3m but yet he comes from a family where most of his full brothers are 3 milers. He won on the bridle over 2m5f last year in the Ballymore and could easily have gone a further 3f then! He seems more relaxed this year watching back his debut so I've got no stamina doubts at all. His second behind Sir Gino was a very good performance imo as SG is a potential superstar and true 2 miler whereas Ballyburn is a stayer. Let's hope my confidence is not let down this Sunday...

But why did Willie send him down the Arkle route this season if he thought he was a stayer? It'll be a complete 'U' turn. Odd.

Not odd at all. Willie has so many stayers that need splitting up. That's why he was so annoyed with last year's Turners now being a handicap. Ballyburn was the fastest stayer so it was natural he would be aimed at the Arkle until he was beaten and don't forget, Arkle runners have gone on to win the GC in the past.

I just think he has always been worried about bottoming out the really good horses at Cheltenham in the BANC, but it’s a different world now with the middle distance gone, and Sir Gino showing up his inadequacies at the Arkle distance. Just had to go plan B I suppose.

Not sure I can go with that as after his Ballymore win he talked him up as a Champion Hurdle horse. He appears to have got him all wrong to me. It happens though. I've always thought he was a Stayer so maybe they'll find his right trip by default.

Yeah they sort of stand any winnings will be paid in bet credits as a gesture of good will I believe.
I don’t think I ever saw they would be honoured in bet credits but that is likely to be the case. I checked my bets at the time for the Turners (9old) and NH Chase and I see that PP, Sky and Bet 365 contacted me to say bets would be honoured as well as refunding the stakes. The only other bookie I had bets on was Coral and they never refunded bets at all despite my arguments with them. The only bets that are still likely to run are Slade Steel in the Jack Richards but my best price is 12/1. I would have to be very optimistic in the NH chase for Sanford Cleggane, Stellar Stiry or Loughlynn to run.
Been wondering if Ile Atlantique will be held back for the intermediate races later in the season IF he's put away by Majborough well enough in the Irish Arkle.

That's basically what Willie said. Wait for Fairyhouse and Punchestown. Get him fresh at home.
