    • No entries for Slade Steele in either Arkle or BANC. Potentially the Thursday Novices Handicap or reverting to Hurdles ?

      • Where can you fund out all these entries? Please?

                  • Extremely underwhelming number of Arkle entries, almost as if axing the turners achieves absolutely nothing

How do you think the Turners not being an option has affected the arkle entry numbers ?
                      Whats the logic ?

Does this finally put an end to Lobos talking about Majborough and the BANC?

                          Nah

                          They could still supplement!

Because the aim was to get more runners in both the Arkle and BANC by axing the race, what we've had instead is basically the same amount of entries while also having no race for 2 and a half mile specialists

Not sure they can magically increase the number of grade one level horses in training though Zach !
If that race was still available all we'd have been presented with is most of the same horses double entered across 2 races 2m/2m 4f & 2m4f/3m

The main idea/potential benefit in the long term of losing the mid distance grade one is that it leads to more clashes between the best novice chasers, and more competitive races.

We will lose some of these entries through injury or other options no doubt. And there will always be years when one novice is outstanding.

But what you wouldn't want to see is 2 (or 3) outstanding novices avoiding each other at the biggest festival in the Sport - Majborough avoiding Gino as a topical example (both a bit to prove before being outstanding - granted)

You can argue that the mid distance race could also have produced a clash like it has in the past. This would be correct, but almost always at the expense of one or both of the other grade ones.

But the basic logic is that more clashes will happen going forward as there are only 2 races to split them up in. And with less grade one chases and chasers overall then this should help improve the depth of quality in each of the remaining grade ones.

                              • Anyone got a strong feeling which race Farren Glory is going to go in? Id prefer him in the Grand Annual myself but can see the Jack Richards Novice Handicap Chase could appeal to connections more.
