Tullyhill not doing much for the Majborough form there to be honest.

It was a Mullins benefit job for his novice chasers. He had 6 of the runners in the race and filled the first 4 spots.
I would say that all of Mistergif, Tullyhill and Asian Master were trying and none were being held back and it doesn't say much for Majborough's form that Tullyhill and Asian Master have finished behind Mistergif despite both having a chase run under their belts.
I actually thought JJ was giving Mistergif a gentle ride but he's ran on well at the the end to win.

One of Tullyhill or Asian Master (or both maybe) will probably end up in the 2m4f handicap novice chase this year.
Willie will be thinking differently, it's probably why they are all taking each other on. Can go for the handicap or even keep some back as second season novices and get a mark next season.

Its possible that Mistergif is actually a better chaser than hurdler, would not be the first to improve for chasing!!
Hes beaten Tullyhill not as well as Maj did fair enough but agree that its fair to point out that Tullyhill had the benefit today of a run behind him.

"He had one win last year in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown and we’ve decided to go chasing with him this time around. We started out thinking he was one for the staying division, but his style of racing meant we had to come back to two miles to win with him. We’re starting out here over that trip again and will see how he goes. He does jump well"
Everyone Mullins mentions jumps well in the Sporting Life they don't. The above was what he said about Lisnagar Fortune who jumped like a snooker table.

My take on the race was that Mistergif was initially not being ridden to win, but then had to pick up the pieces when it fell apart at the end. Jockey on Asian Master is criminal and Tullyhill needs to go left handed (and jump considerably better)

Im not sure myself.
Be interesting to see how he performs when he’s ridden closer to the pace, maybe his next race will tell us more.
However you look at it though, he did jump well and won nicely.
All in all I should think connections would be pleased with that and look forward to seeing what level he can achieve.

I wouldnt be worried about Lucky Watson, didnt jump well today and think with the likes of Jukebox Man and potentially Jango Baie, they'll be taken lengths out of him
Great little form boost to Slade Steel, who I would fancy for the new Novice Handicap Chase, I've taken the 14/1 on offer. Risky as they may still go for the Arkle or Banc, but think he's a middle distance horse, and he could sneak in with a decent handicap mark given he has been winless so far. He needs softer ground
