  • I'm becoming less and less convinced by ballyburn tbh

Let's remember Samcro, Envoi, Bob, Sir Gerhard and Impaire

All recent impressive ballymore, Gallagher etc whatever winners

All hyped up as the next big thing. None of them backed it up the season after.

Samcro and bob did win the turners. But Bob was extremely fortunate and samcro had had a year in the wilderness.

Perhaps he was just the best of a bad bunch. Maybe he's not a machine. could be a bit like Sir G who was a good horse beating up average ones.

His only hope on today's showing is the BANC, he doesn't jump anywhere near well enough for an arkle and he is bred to be a stayer.

He's now 1 from 3 over obstacles at 2 miles
And 4 from 4 over further. They'd have to be mad to run him over 2 miles again.

    • I think Archie and cod and others make a valid point
kempton is very different and history tells us over and over again that different horses suit this course more than others.

having said that Gino and definitely the Hill will likely be better or at least as good at Cheltenham also.

Soft ground though and more of stamina sapping course and Mullins horses are likely to get closer, which makes the prices now a joke really
bookies taking advantage of over excitement

      • Ballyburn is clearly better over further than 2 miles. However, so was/is Gaelic Warrior and he got away with it last season. Too early to take an absolute position for March.

Couldn't agree more. Don't forget Vega as well. Have been banging the BANC drum for him from the start. IMO Willie has 2/3 at home that would beat him in an Arkle based on today's performance.

Has Willie or Paul said anything yet ? Or are they sulking.

Did GW have a SG to contend with?
If Ballyburn is clearly better over further and would be facing SG again, I don’t think connections will contemplate the Arkle, and I don’t blame them.
Agree it’s not absolutely done, but given the choices they still have I would be surprised if they didn’t step him up now.

            • Think it’s the five year olds looking exceptional up till now that’s thrown the markets.
The earlier any punter latched on to that angle the better position they are for now.

Who would you have above him from willies out of curiosity?

Huge shame Its for Me suffered a fatal injury today after landing as I do feel he could have thrown up a decent performance but we'll never know, he was certainly very sharp over the fences we seen from him.

Paul might struggle for a standout ride in the Arkle at this rate

Just need the machine Anzadam to complete the pack now

IEP and Ill Atlantique for starters.

Reckon Paul's mount will be IEP. Jumped like a 2 miler on debut and clearly has the pace/back form over 2 miles.

It's SG's to lose based on today's exhibition though.

See if IEP blows out tomorrow like many of willies have first

Yeah, that could be the issue.

I'm contemplating breaking my 'no bets outside of Fez ' rule and having a nice bet on BDA to beat State Man. Her price has already contracted so others must be thinking the same as you and me.

                            • Much as I'm in the Gino camp,is everyone forgetting Majborough, I believe him & Ile Atlantique will be the Mullins runners to pair up & try to bring Gino down.

Much as Ballyburn is a top class horse,he won't be going in no Arkle, today was to find out where both camps stood for March,I'll be very surprised if after today anyone at Closutton is suggesting they'll turn that form around in March.
