It's when they step into graded company against other previous winners that matters.
If you can't see that Majborough is a better horse than Inthepocket then I can't help you any further
I don't think it should be crabbed.
I like Majborough. Suspect he'll be a better horse, in time, than Inthepocket, but I'm not going to see form used as an argument against one horse but dismissed for another.

And personally I wouldn't be including JB for the Arkle, maybe his high debut RPR is a good sign for those that are including him!
But definitely a good sign is the way he traveled, jumped and finished his race
Well deserved rating imo

Of course Mullins may run two in the race but if he does the second string will be there looking for place money and experience rather that Mullins throwing two darts at the race, when does Mullins ever really throw two at a race where he thinks either could win, more likely he knows who the gun is and the rest are picking up prize money.
Not sure the Arkle is a race to give horses experience/introduction to horses, personally I think whoever Mullins sends to the race who Townend isn't on has pretty much zero chance of winning...
I do get your point as to the Mullins first string, especially in the Arkle. Won it 6 times in the last 10 years, 5 times with the favourite and the exception was Duc Des Genievres who was the only Mullins runner in the race. Maybe that is why there are suggestions that Ballyburn and Majborough could meet before Cheltenham? Obviously every situation is different with JP having more horses now with Willie and jockey bookings seemingly set due to agreements in place then this could be the year Mullins goes into the Arkle with two very strong chances.

However, the horses Majborough faced were better than those that Ballyburn faced based on hurdles form.

I'd imagine there's some sort of dialogue between Mullins and JP around targets rather than JP simply issuing orders, if Mullins has a near certainty in any festival race I'd struggle to see the upside in JP running one of his unless he's angling for some handicappers help from a poor performance but that's an unlikely strategy in a festival graded race, I'm sure it makes sense to those in the inner circle....

Last season’s Betfair Hurdle winner Iberico Lord takes the next step on his education over fences by carrying top-weight in the Howden Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
He did run in the Champion Hurdle last season, but at a time when trainer Nicky Henderson’s stable was under a cloud.
“I thought he was good at Kempton so we’ve got to keep him going,” said Henderson.
“It was clear to see that he jumped better the faster he was going and he’s in good form.
“He did give L’Eau Du Sud weight and a beating in the Betfair and he’s among the favourites for the Arkle, so we think he can go quite high.”
If he wins off top weight then JP will surely have another decent chance to add to his Arkle team. We'd likely see a big price crash as well. The point about him beating LDS (giving away weight) is a good one too, albeit over Hurdles.

His jumping definitely needs to improve though, but it did get better during his race on Chase debut, and was good towards the end.
Be an interesting watch today

Any thoughts as I thought he would have been Stepped up to avoid Possibly running against Ballyburn

The cunning play from Willie would be ballyburn to wayward lad to "stop" Sir Gino from running there on his first chase start and Impaire et passe to the 3 miler to see how he stays. I feel that would give a lot of clarity as to where willies horses may fit at Cheltenham, not withstanding the potential addition of quai de bourbon and high class hero to the RSA ranks (neither likely to have enough runs for a handicap now even if they wanted to?)

If it’s decided he goes chasing he has imo to run as soon as possible and he will have been readied for Kempton, either Xmas Hurdle or Wayward Lad.
