  • Dancing City won easily from my perception. Dossed on the run in because Paul wasn't giving him a hard time but when the second came at him he got going again. Wouldn't be making any quick decisions about how much he'd improve but he'll surely be a contender come March.

    • I don't understand the negativity with Dancing City after today. He appears to have everything I'd be looking for in a Brown Advisory horse. Jumps well, stays 3 miles, has the residual class (hurdle rating) and his target would almost be guaranteed. Add to that, he trained by the master.

      I'm all in!

      • I would have been really positive on DC, I would say the big thing is its well known in there that he's a horse that takes a few runs to get right each season & Paul reported he blew up coming to the last today. He still managed to come out win against fit horses and his jumping was quality
He'll improve and improve all season

BB going down the 2m route, no doubt about that unless he decides himself on the track he's not

            Hi R4H
Be interested in any comments re Olympic Man
Thought he jumped and travelled really well aside from the mistake, and he was first time out as well.
Not far away at the finish despite.

Yeh ran a great race, but did what he did over hurdles didn't he unfortunately and just jumped badly when needed at the 4th and 2nd last and cost him. I would say come the business end there'll be a huge level difference there with DC. Some horses will just come to hand faster, or come in earlier in the summer and so on but Dancing City a bit unique in how long it takes him to come right compared to any other WP first timers even

I would just never judge a Willie horse first time in general given its generally just a blow for the big guns, have them too forward and they won't peak when you want them too or last a season. We see plenty trainers bringing horses in later now learning from Willie even the big trainers the last 2 years in Ireland to try last the whole season

Agree with this a lot and you could argue he dossed about in all of his G1 wins last season. When he hits the front he’s never extends massively but he tends to stay there, a good attribute to have as a 3m chaser.

On his turn of foot - I’d say he’s ok in this department based on the Punchestown bumper form, splitting the Supreme and Gallagher winner.

                  • The best thing re DC is that we know his target. Probably the only Mullins Novice Chaser we can currently say that about. It's reflected in his price but he was a really progressive Hurdler and has made a decent start to his Chasing career.

Didn’t get up it last year, had Shannon royal closing today and high class hero closing on his final race last season on a less stiff track. Banc will be a bigger field than last few years so can almost guarantee it’ll be run at a decent clip. It’s going to be a gruelling 3 miles 1/2 furlong and it’s going to take an out and out stayer to win this. Dancing city just doesn’t fit the bill. You can say it’s his 1st run of the season blah blah blah but I’m telling you he’s got little to no chance of winning at the festival. The fact he was cut for the race after is criminal. Give him 3 miles again over a flat track like aintree and I’d be all over him
wow you did well to get 33/1 my best is 14/1

He's beaten a good field, who were all race fit aswell

He looked in control at every point of the race and will come on loads like willies will do.
it has been suggested that Punch is a flat track but I did not see it that way - plenty of undulations - DC coped with it well.

Not really, especially as he thinks he's on a loser
