TCB already rated 148 in Ireland.
Yeah, is capped at 145, SC has a 147 rating so both will need to come down at some point if they want to get in.

Doubt they'll get a reduction running over hurdles.

No, but neither would winning a Beginners Chase. Best bet would be to pitch in a grade 1 level, so suspect this is just a run to blow the cobwebs away ready for Xmas and the Long Distance Novice Chase, or if they want to be particularly 'dodgy' then the Faugheen Novice Chase which Cromwell used last year to hide Inothewayurthinkin's mark.

I can't imagine TCB will get down to a mark when he can get in to be honest. Handicapper looks out for these types of things nowadays. Wonder what his UK mark would be.

Won't be easy, but the higher the rating the more lenient the handicapper is, so probably looking at a couple of pounds more. Can go Long Distance/Faugheen at Xmas then Moriarty at Dublin Festival. Win and they would be BANC candidates anyway, beat then their mark should hopefully drop. All speculation anyway for now.

Mullins said: "He'll have an entry in a beginners' chase very soon. He's the sort you could run over any trip. Ultimately, he'll develop into a staying chaser, I would imagine, but he has enough speed to be considered an Arkle horse this season. He's gorgeous to look at.

My interpretation of this is that Willie wants him to go Arkle, but JP doesn't...

Agree. JP does have a few other than him that can go Arkle. What BANC horses does he have?

None, but it doesn't mean Maj needs to go there (although I've got him covered for it).

If the new Turners handicap is a limited handicap, it's not beyond the realms (to me), that Impaire Et Passe and Majborough go there tbh...

Down Memory Lane, potentially, although would see him more suited to the Turners if he can get in, however if he runs and is beat by L'eau Du Sud in the Henry VIII , no reason why can't step up to the BANC. There's stamina in his pedigree.

Also not sold on JP needing a runner in a particular race either.

I'd have Majborough over him all day long. Just boils down to whether they risk him in the race. His price has held up which I find comforting as a backer.

If JP and his team think Maj is an Arkle horse then that’s where he will go.
Wont matter whether he has a BANC horse or not.
                            Thats how I see it

                            • I just don’t see Majborough going BANC because it can be a gruelling race for novices and could ruin his potential future as a star chaser. Also with what we have been led to believe by Willie about his potential as a chaser (very high), then why risk a large (still growing?) 5 year old when the future looks so bright?

GDC was a potential star chaser and Willie decided (against my best interests!) to run him in the Turners rather than the BANC

If Majborough jumps like a buck wouldnt this help him reduce the rating divide over 2m chasing against some better hurdlers that maybe don’t jump as well (Ballyburn) ?

IMO his first run may we’ll decide the path for this year, but it still won’t be BANC

I see this in the Champion Hurdle thread and wonder what makes you think sending Majborough over 3m is any different for a 5 year old, to giving them a spin over hurdles then going chasing over 2m.
