  • R4H appears to be a tad ITK re Mullins horses. Perhaps he can give us an update re IEP??

The big issue I have now backing anything in the Arkle is that it seems Ballyburn is going that way. That for me knocks out any win bets on anything else . Might just top up on Ballyburn each week at short odds rather than waste any more bullets on the race. Yes of course something could happen but that applies to all horses.
He’s 2/1 and had one nov chase.
And performed no better than others at much bigger prices.
Think it would pay to be a bit more flexible myself

I did say I felt he was a little slow at a few.

It wouldn't surprise me if he got done by Inthepocket should they meet.

Maybe the BANC slips are not dead in the water just yet

          • Reading that clip, would not be touching 2/1 that’s for sure
The 40’s on TMN looks value though

            • Said on Saturday he could well lose ground at the fences jumping as he did against a horse like LDSud, now I read he lost ground on Saturday.
Still he’s entitled to improve in that dept.
              Going to have to imo.

Un De Sceaux might have something to say about that (albeit he fell in the race)!

I think it's a race that would suit Ile Atlantique, personally. He's entered, so I'm hoping he gets declared.

I think that puts him bang there. Some have hit high 140's, others 160, that have gone on to win the Arkle.
For some level of comparison, Gaelic Warrior hit 158 in the same race last season and Kilcruit 133, two years back.

Kilcruit never ended up at the festival, but we know how Gaelic Warriors season went. Obviously he had to be beat up in trip to end up in the Arkle.

                    • jono said that on the Betfair: Weighed In podcast someone said Ballyburn's debut was likened to Sprinter Sacre's?

Who is this guy? Name and shame I say

Was listening earlier on. Callum Helliwell. Not heard of him before. Seems an affable and measured chap but yeah … “took lengths out of them at each fence” … or not.

As I said in the immediate aftermath, his jumping was average.

Sounds like someone young trying to make a name for themselves

Having snook out of work to watch Sprinter Sacre's chase debut, I would throw my substantial weight (literal that is, not my racing profile ) behind that debut being miles more impressive

Then again, I think Monkfish still had the best chase debut I've ever seen

...... and then the best novice hurdle debut I can recall was Lough Derg Spirit so that's the end of my insight

As far as I recall Gallopins chase debut was pretty special

                            • It would be interesting to know if any horse got better than the 163 RPR that GDC was given on debut. Gaelic Warrior was 158, Monkfish 148, Sprinter Sacre 154 (the race comment for the 2nd is funny in hindsight - when asked why he didn't get closer, he said he was riding a bridle horse). Think the fact you were taking on an aeroplane had more to do with it.

                              • Impaire et passé entered over 2m5 at fairyhouse on Saturday. Caldwell potter likely to be running over 2m at carlisle. I’ve backed IEP for the arkle and CP for the browns but fear them target may be flipped
