I've just this minute done just that. I'm not sure about deserving favouritism til I see him,but both grade 1s have a very open feel about them this year so far. Very refreshing.

Had to be done. The 50/1 they were dangling a little after March was an absolute insult imo for a horse that would have gone Gallagher (and won it comfortably ) if Ballyburn hadn't switched races. He was available at 33's for ages after before punters saw sense.

He also said they went very slow. The ground was Good as well so he may have more toe than given credit for.

Open until Ballyburn steps into the game. He's a right pain in the arse.

Was a desperately slowly run race - 14secs slower than Quilixios'

Still has that Question mark though re where Ballyburn is going. Will go to the wire I reckon like last season. Ground will have a say as well.
His jumping will have a say as well I would think
Will it be slick enough for 2m?
He’s one that I look forward to seeing jump a fence for sure, along with Ballyburn, although seems still not definite that one actually goes chasing.

It’s hard to be saying what should be fav for the BANC, especially a horse that’s won a Supreme and yet to jump a fence in public, but of course you are entitled to your view.

He was, horse is massive! He was towering over a couple of them, as a 4 year old, still needs to fill a good bit of that frame before he’ll be seen at his best.

Is it just me or does Harry Cobden leave too much up to the horse jumping obstacles? I’ve very rarely seen him ever ask the horse for an effort, just seems to let them pop away. Horse didn’t even lift its legs where he came down, I know he’s a novice so they’re learning on the job so to speak but surely asking them up is a good part of their education as well?

                    • Would much rather be backing Caldwell Potter at 20/1 than Slade Steel. Equal rated on Official Hurdle marks though Potter had two less runs and a 2lb higher RPR. He looks a more natural three mile chaser and has always been very well regarded. For a trainer that has won the race three times as opposed to one who has never won it. The current betting suggests that the 3 miler is the more likely target for CP whereas SS is half the price for the Arkle compared to his BANC price.

                      • Looks like Inthepocket (Arkle) has been tipped up somewhere. Sea of blue

Maybe he knows Ballyburn isn't going that way ? Ballyburn drifting slightly on Exchange for Arkle.

If that was the case surely IEP would be the bet.
