A get the value argument of course (market price versus suspected ability over fences) but fences is very different to hurdles and to take a view without even seeing them jump is the way to the poor house. There are so many horse, some big, some small, some good over hurdles, others where “anything they do over hurdles is a bonus”, but you have to see them jump.
