Or JP wants him up into open company as the season progresses. He potentially has Jeriko Du Reponet, Mirazur West and Iberico Lord for the Arkle off the top of my head. I have him covered for the Arkle but took some of the 33s for the Ryanair also. He would have likely been going out in trip this season and if he proves good enough after a couple of runs I could see him being tried in open company before the festival

Pretty mental stat I thought - JP has only had 4 runners in the Arkle (since 2008 when the database I use begins):

      2023: Jonbon (2nd), Saint Roi (3rd)
      2020: Fakir Doudairies (2nd)
      2013: Tap Night

Just doesn't seem to be a race he cares about so highly plausible he focuses on the handicaps instead? Particularly with Jeriko and Mirazur who are both rated in 130s. Iberico and Inthepocket may find that harder off 150ish currently, suggesting Arkle potential for both - notwithstanding the fact above

Aye, Jeriko for the new Turners is on my mind. Hendo even mentioned further than 2 miles in his stable tour.

        Cashed out my Arkle bet.

        • He also has Waterford Whispers for HDB

He's been backed in for the Arkle with most bookies after the stable tour.

Aye, giving the perfect opportunity to cash out.

              • He hasn't got so many this year, but some of the Irish trained JP novice chasers might actually be available at bigger prices after their debuts. I remember last year that all of them had very 'gentle' introductions and it was only Iroko that won on debut.

Fact To File - 2nd behind American Mike
Corbetts Cross - 3rd behind Grangeclare West
Inthepocket - 2nd behind Facile Vega
Spillanes Tower - 4th behind The Big Chap
                Inothewayurthinkin - 2nd behind Imagine
                Iroko - Won

Very good point. Yes, most were given 'educational' rides and why not.

Whilst not a JP horse, this is why I followed up on The Enabler for the AB @ 40/1 after his poor first run, as fitness and ‘gentle’ introductions are key considerations on first runs and also the distance of the race with what you think is the long term plan ie 2m was surely too short for The Enabler?

This is probably the only naive opportunity the bookmakers give us as sometimes they over react to what they see are poor first runs, even if the trainer is happy as it’s all part of the plan!

Re The Enabler then bit of a concern around being out again so soon, even though it’s over a longer trip, as I wonder if it’s all part the plan to get the 5 runs in to qualify for the Pipe or Pertemps. However experience is also good thing for the AB methinks

I'm a big Enabler fan and although disappointed at first glance, 2m was never his trip and a race fit rival off the flat picked him off in the straight. I'd be amazed if he runs again over anything less than 2m4f. The early start does concern me but I think he's the best of the Giggy staying novice hurdlers so I'm hoping that it's experience they're after, rather than a plot. But that is more hope than anything

Entered at Galway on Sunday over 2m 5 1/2f so hopefully we see a run which supports his potential over a trip, rather than 2m

If he wins and wins well then the 40/1 for the AB will be long gone !

                        • From British standards, the novice chase at Carlisle is decent. Could see all 3 being in handicaps at Cheltenham.

Having the required number of runs also gives them "options".
5 runs and a favourable mark and the H'caps come into play.
They had to shuffle their pack late on last season when Croke Park wasn't available for the Albert Bartlett

Interested in Johhnywho performance today, hope the jumping is clean and good, and then would think longer trips in store.

They've got most of theirs out early so it sure looks like they want to have that flexibility come the festival.
