    You sure about that?
Sure is a bit strong but yeah, was really taken by his chasing debut and he must have impressed both Paul and Willie massively getting the nod for the race at the weekend. His jumping was excellent, so quick from A to B which screamed Arkle to me. Willie has always said he's a top horse at home but didn't quite live up to that over hurdles. Looks like Chasing will be the making of him.

Yeah I thought he was good as well, but imo no better than ITP or Maj, both of which were over 2m. His race was not 2m.
Maj incidentally has never gone further than 2m, which obviously is not surprising as he’s just turned 5, which is probably the reason why he won’t be going further for a while imo.

      • If Ile Atantique gets done by Firefox or Inthepocket @ Naas all Willie has for the Arkle is Majborough (Mark Walsh) & Ballyburn (possibly!). That would leave Paul with only Ballyburn as a potential ride.

Still hoping against hope re Ballyburn in the Arkle then COD

Even if he did run in it he'd finish out the back of the TV. He's just not a 2m chaser.

Paul can just sit it out and save all his energy for Lossiemouth in the Churdle.

Wouldn't completely discount impaire et passe, no matter what any of them say, especially if like you say they're other contenders start falling by the way side.

Only other possible I can think of is tullyhill. He'd look to be a long shot at this point but it wasnt a bad run behind majborough giving the allowance, he might improve enough to go there with an each way chance.

From a singles perspective, I'd rather Ballyburn go for the BANC, but I feel like Willie will give him one last go over 2m.

I don't think he ends up out the back of the TV if he runs, either. Don't be surprised if he puts up a better performance than that at Kempton.

Thought connections said BANC or Aintree for IEP, the other day.

Those owners aren't like jp mcmanus though, they're just repeating whatever willie or patrick tell them is the plan, and patrick mentioned banc still being a possibility a few days beforehand. And given willie is just annoyed about the turners being scrapped, I think he could change his mind pretty quickly if paul is left with no other decent options for the arkle.

Not saying he's a Betting proposition obviously with all the doubt, just saying it would be no surprise to me at all if he turned up in the arkle, if ballyburn and ile atlantique dont show themselves as serious contenders.

From a pocket perspective I'd much rather him go Arkle but if he did then he'd need a lot to go his way to win it imo. Just can't see it.

Wouldn't take much to put in a better performance than at Kempton where he just looked painfully outpaced. I do hope Willie sees sense and steps him up and not continue with what looks a complete waste of time over the minimum trip. He has Maj who looks the only one to me who could possibly get Gino out of 2nd gear.

"Berry also confirmed that Triumph Hurdle winner Majborough, who was among the initial entries for this contest, would “probably go to Leopardstown” for the Dublin Racing Festival following what was an imposing chasing bow last month."

                      • Do people think Willie cares if Paul is on a horse or not for the race. If he thinks Majborough is his best chance in the Arkle and has a good chance of winning, and he has others who slot in better in other races than the Arkle, I don't think he'd throw one in just for Paul to ride a loser.

Didn't Paul skip a load of the handicaps last year just to minimize chance of injury so he could ride the stable stars? I bet Paul won't be arsed either about not riding in the Arkle if he's going to be riding the stable 2nd string who will possibly be 4th or worse in the betting.

                              Irish Arkle I presume?

Ile atlantique and Firefox jump the last clear who wins?

Both will be doing all they can to dog it and finish 2nd

the moral winner of that clash would be the one who doesn't win
