That Grade 2 race at Limerick over Christmas is a key part of the puzzle, not just for the Bartlett but the Pipe as well, and seeing as I have already covered MS for the Pipe I would feel a bit foolish if he turned up in a Bartlett and won it! It also gives me some cover on The Yellow Clay not turning up to the Bartlett.

As per Saxon Warrior diary, the Limerick race has produced the following (with regards to the Bartlett):

    2023 - Stellar Story 2nd - Won the Bartlett
    2022 - Letsbeclearaboutit 2nd - 4th in the Bartlett
    2020 - Vanillier 2nd - Won the Bartlett
2019 - Fury Road Won - 3rd in the Bartlett
2016 - Penhill Won - Won the Bartlett

It's got a fair roll call. And now Gordon has done it with Stellar Story, I wonder if he's thinking a repeat could be on the cards with Minella Sixo.

Shantou's have a good recent record in the Bartlett too, with both last years winner, Stellar Story (also placed in the Limerick race and trained by Gordon) and Stay Away Fay, both winning the race. I don't think it's just coincidence either, looking at the rest of his progeny. Death Duty went off short in the race, albeit wasn't going to win when coming down, and Briar Hill, who was travelling very well when falling, back in the 2014 renewal of the race.

I've had some 140+ on the exchanges for small amounts, but also backed him this morning E/W @ 33/1 NRNB.

Mozzie's Sister is another to look at, from the race, but I have a thing about mares going for such a gruelling race like the Bartlett. I was also hoping for bigger than 25's too!
My angle was around gigginstown really and there wont is normally to have at least one in the grade 1.
But like jackie says the entries seem odd.

Lack of faith will be shown if PT doesn't ride him in Supreme but I can't see that happening.
When I doubt the huge faith, it's more along the lines of Willie would much prefer a horse to not be a dick (with mental issues), and be able to have the 2 options at cheltenham ideally, just in case.

      • If you asked Willie to name a horse that won't let him down it won't be a horse like Salvator.

Yes, I can agree with this statement

They know what they have at home.
We know what we’ve seen on the course.
Very interesting he goes straight there, so we will have no idea if he settles and jumps better .
              Because he will have to.

It was also a genuine question. You can discount the two run thing but has he ever run a 4 year old in the Supreme is the information that I'm after, really.

If the answer is yes then I may well end up covering him.
Binocular, but he had a lot of runs in France prior to joining Henderson, but only the 2 over UK hurdles.

Edit - sorry, was already well covered.

                • Even though he had his faults winning i also like the fact Mundi has been so solid in the market since . I can only see his price going one way and can see him going off quite short on the day.

I wouldn't say he'd go too short now

We won't see him again, and Kaid D'authie could be the real shortener imo

IF he puts away Kopek at the DRF, he'll go into favourite imo.

I can see bookies trying to take on Mundi on the day myself.

I'm worried JP might perform the switcheroo if he beats kopek, although beating him over 2m doesn't mean he can beat him over 2m5f

                        In what way Odin?

Put TNL into supreme and Kaid into the Turners?

The 2 likely to be heading straight there have got noticibly closer on betfair over the last few days/week or so.
Salvator moving towards 11-2 and romeo 13/2.

Never backed Romeo till other day when the boost was available on 365, so got near 9-1.
Just a saver and it's fingers crossed because Cheltenham seemed to suit in the bumper and he seemed to be in the worse ground that day also.
If Kaid or Kopek can look very dominant and come here I'll relax a bit, but otherwise I think I'll need to put a bit more on him or put him in a double.

Just one of my stubborn points really, don't like backing Elliotts over 2 miles, especially his early season shit, whilst Willie is in the shed.

Yeah I've ended up making a right mess with Romeo myself.

Liked him last season and he was last leg of 350/1 roll up for the Supreme, but then when he flopped in the Royal Bond and the step up in trip talk came about I cashed it for a 16/1 winner.

Now he's looked good over 2m again, I'm unsure what to do with him :/

                                Absolute best case yeah

May have to cover my stakes with him at least to dampen the blow if the worst did happen.
