Yeah, I like that as a Supreme backer. JP pulled him out of Naas over 2 1/2 and now his only entry over 2miles at Clonmel. Probably did that knowing he'd just bought TNL maybe?

Willie has used the Munster hurdle for his mid distance horses recently. I expect him to go to the Moscow Flyer personally.

Would be happy with MF as last year's Supreme 2nd Fav mystical Power won that for JP.

        • Seems strange he’d have two successive entries in traditional WPM trials for the Turners if he was thought of as a Supreme type. Guess the purchase of TNL could be a factor. As Exar said, Moscow Flyer entries will be informative.

          • Yep, TNL purchase throws a massive spanner in works for punters.

Not really, JP runs loads of his against each other

He does but he's got more to split now and obviously now has the strong fav for the Turners. Could change things.

Haven’t given it a full amount of thought but my initial reaction would be to agree with this. If JP has spent circa £1M on a horse he must believe it is something special and the likely winner of the Turners. Could well encourage him to fire stronger bullets at the Supreme.

He’s obsessed with winners, and securing them where he can. He purchased a Dream To Share when he had the second best bumper horse in FTF. I wouldn’t surprise me if his thinking is simply that he can cover off one form line with this purchase, whilst thinking he has the Irish form line closed with one or two of his others.

It could also be a purchase with next year in mind too. If, and I appreciate it’s a big if, TNL is Champion Hurdle quality, it’d be JP’s first genuine challenger since Epatante. If he’s a chaser, it might be another dart for the Arkle and to ultimately that elusive QMCC.

Final thought, could the new ownership change TNL’s destination? Could the Bartlett be back on the cards? JP doesn’t have anything obvious for that.

Edit: Reading that back, I’ve mentioned the Champion Hurdle and The Potato race in the same post But he does look the sort that could be trained to go either way.

My thoughts entirely. He's still got plenty of others that could run in either race but it does change things. Jockey plans would have a bearing as well.

Yep, I like the Champion Hurdle theory.

He definitely doesn't strike me as an Albert type at all though.

What was that national yoke he bought too maybe 4 year back

                            • Perhaps more topically didn’t he buy one of Alan Kings that was vying for favouritism for the Ballymore at the time. Ironically began with K….Karabak who finished second to Mikael D’haguenet…..many will believe this to be portentous for the current fav no doubt
