Yeah, can't be happy with that, a load finished close enough up in behind too.

Seemed to slow at near enough every hurdle, she'd get left behind in a festival race.

A lot of these French lot have been pretty disappointing this season, so far!

    • Keen enough throughout, and was weirdly big at some considering she come off the flat, but will give her benefit of the doubt on hurdles debut.

Happy enough in the straight but Sams' took the sting out of her from a fair way out it looked, especially with the ones coming from behind they've definitely tied up

Nothing really standing out to note in this division yet.

I assume this is tongue in cheek considering Mullins said she ran flat at Aintree?

Nothing comes out of the race with much credit in my view. Maybe the winner as she looked like she wanted to win the race and a strongly run mares novice may suit, though I would say considering the proximity of the finishers that the form isn't as strong as hoped. Karoline Banbou needs to go over fences asap the way she ballooned every hurdle!

Not at all. Check that Aintree Bumper form out.

Yes, it's working out pretty well, however taking a mare who was beat 15 lengths and declared to have run flat as a boost to the form is stretching things a bit.

Amazing how many beaten horses are said to have ran 'flat'.

Yeah, not enough for my liking. Horses don't like all conditions and at the end of the day are animals who will have off days. In my view there should be at least one a race. Problem is horses can't talk and majority of trainers don't need to provide an excuse as to why a horse ran below par.

Totally agree. Better to just take all form as read unless there's an obvious excuse or something from the vet.

                            • Lobos out of interest where was your timeform novice hurdler list from?

This paragraph taken from an article from Sunday on sporting life suggests both salvator mundi and bleu de vassy are 148p.

Obviously this article could be incorrect.

Salvator Mundi v Bleu De Vassy

Future Champions Novice Hurdle, Leopardstown (December 27)

We didn't see a lot of the horse but Salvator Mundi’s name was mentioned in dispatches on numerous occasions throughout the last campaign and it’s one we’ll be hearing plenty about this year too, if the early Sky Bet Supreme odds are anything to go by anyway.

The Mullins-trained four-year-old is already clear favourite for the Festival opener and although that looks a bit fanciful based on his (62-length!) maiden hurdle win at Tipperary alone, you only have to glance at his juvenile form to see the distinct promise.

This is the horse who followed home Sir Gino at Auteuil in April 2023 - prompting Joe and Marie Donnelly to buy the pair of them - and his only run for Mullins prior to the maiden stroll in May saw him finish sixth behind Majborough in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

So he was thrown in at the deep end last term and may well face the same baptism this time around, but he’s effectively a second-season novice and could obviously be one of the highest calibre.

Gordon Elliott’s Bleu De Vassy was no superstar in bumpers but he’s gone about his business in taking fashion at Fairyhouse and Navan this autumn and can already match Salvator Mundi’s 148p Timeform rating, with the promise of plenty more to come. Underestimate this one at your peril.
