    We should have a sticky thread for the 10 commandments of Cheltenham betting. Near the top would be avoiding the PTP mares for the Mares Novice.

      Won't be going anywhere near the graded races after that.

          “The further he went, the better he jumped.

          "He was fine on that ground and I'd say he'll go on slower ground and will have no bother on winter ground."
          Thank you Denman. That would certainly back up your view of him being a turners horse. Wonder if he’ll run in the lawlors of naas.

          • KH looks well suited to the Supreme on that showing. Pretty keen early. Looks to have plenty of pace. Going quicker would help. Ground was plenty fast enough today so the guaranteed Softer ground on day one would also suit. He looks a nice prospect.

              Down the straight was where he was most impressive, against a race fit horse when he'd been off the track 13months. The front 2 quickly put distance in behind and KH easily got ontop of the 2nd. He was sharp and nimble 3 and 2 out and asked for a long one at the last he came up nicely.

              Happy to be on with the early shout!

              Couldnt be arsed playing mullins bingo with him so have covered both races.

                JP bloody loves a Supreme as well. Been a while since he won one. Think he'll go in mob handed this season.

                • Very quick timings done on the first 2 maiden hurdles @ cork

                  Overall times were both recorded as 4mins3s
                  Kel Histoire carrying 11-7
                  Relieved of Duties carrying 11-12

                  from the first hurdle to the finish line - Kel Histoire has won by around 15L.

                  **will look more in depth to this in an hour or so when i get a chance

                  • If Kel Histoire is anything like some of his half siblings (by sire) then he's probably going to need soft/heavy to be seen to best effect, IMO.

                    Teahupoo, Maskada & Predators Gold the top 3 performing horses by Masked Marvel, all run well with plenty of cut in the ground. I'd be worried for him in a Supreme where it's on the good side of soft, or better.

                    I have a 50/1 ticket on him, and in no rush to cash it out, seeing as he's just won his maiden, but very much believe his chances depend on the conditions on the day.

                      You not think he handled the yielding ground well today then?

                      Looked fine on it for me, G/S maybe an unknown, but probably is for plenty of these winter ground types. One positive is Lucarno handled quick ground no issues.

                      • ….Mullins;

                        Jasmin De Vaux also won at Navan but he hasn’t got the natural speed for two miles, I’d imagine we’ll go out in trip with him. He will learn as he goes along. He’s got an engine and I was impressed with the way he opened up after the last, we just have to get him to jump a little quicker.

                        • KH did win in France on tr souple, which is somewhere between good to soft and soft. I don't think any ground he encounters at Cheltenham will be a problem - just be whether he's good enough or not. Next time up in grade will tell.

                            Tres = very
                            Souple = soft.

                              Yes...

                              That has no bearing on the comparison to ground description in the UK and Ireland. Their Souple/soft is good to soft in the UK. Collant is soft.
