I'd have thought they'd go for the grade 2 at Warwick then on to Cheltenham but may as well try and win a grade 1 if they can.
Yep,If there’s a fair chance of a grade 1 then why not go for it, it’s not all about Cheltenham, and it should not affect their festival chances anyway.

    • I know a few talked about Murcia as a potential Triumph horse. Seen she has recently been chalked up in the MNH by a few layers. Any opinions which avenue she is likeliest to go down?

        Willie has mentioned the Triumph.

I don't think he's ever run a juvenile in the MNH instead of the juvenile route and he's had a fair few he could have gone down that route with.

Not sure if she'll end up in the Triumph but she won't be running in the MNH for sure....IMHO of course.

          • Disappointed at first that Sounds Victorious was turned over but with hindsight it could be the best for Albert backers. It was an inadequate distance, ground too lively and he was giving a stone to the winner. Albert is 110% his only race now.......imo.

Nothing positive for me to take from that today, it was an absolute nothing race, they've went a fair gallop and he's been outstayed by a rules newcomer thats come from behind him. Also noticed that his jumping half fell apart over the last 3. He'd also ran a nice race on good/yielding ground in the Punches champ bumper so won't be using that as an excuse either.

He's 50/1 best now, I'd say that sort of reflects his chances for me.

I’d say he was nowhere near fit. I’d still have hoped for slightly better, but the 1st is better than a 40/1 shot. Everything else in behind is sort of where you’d expect it to be.

Willies ran flat in November last year and I think he’s schooling even later this year. So they might be even further behind.

I think the 50/1 is fair. I’ve taken a bit with cash out.

Punters gave up on him too after his early maiden win and then being beaten in his next 3 races. Wait until SV has his ground and 3 miles and when he's fitter too off levels. You'll see a different horse then. Very early for a Mullins horse to be out. He needs the work.

Ya I agree with this. He will be a horse everyone talks about all year, as couple of people have tipped him already and in the AB we all know anything can win, so pundits will keep saying he has a chance especially if he wins maiden next time out. As above, he will go to this race if he goes to Cheltenham. IMO, take the 50s ew and forget about him until 2:50pm on the Friday of cheltenham.

                              • I was very impressed with Potters charm yesterday, and I'm be pleased to hear the trainer comments after yesterday's race. It would appear the correct race to target with this horse to me.
I think he could be right about him being better with it softer too. But the fact he has won twice at Cheltenham on good ground, on the old course at around the turners novice hurdle distance is very positive.

The novice hurdle which he won at the October meeting, was previously won in 2012 by the new one, he then went on to win the Neptune at the festival, which of course is the race in which the same trainer is looking to aim Potters charm.

It was after that race i really took notice of him, although held fire until instantly after yesterdays performance, after his october win i watched his previous runs, and it was his ffos Las bumper win which was really impressive, on heavy going he effortlessly pulled 10 lengths clear, really is worth watching if you haven't already.
Yesterday from 3 out until the final bend STD was motionless as soon as he asked him he quickly put the race to bed.
I'm not sure he's beaten much yet tbh but there appears plenty more there.

Yeah I'll be banging this drum from now until March
