There have been a lot of knockers of the bumper since the race but the form of it is yet to be properly tested over hurdles. I have JDV in the book for the Gallaghers at small(ish) stakes. He came to the fore very nicely and was staying all the way to the line. If Romeo Coolio and Jalon D'oudaries are supposed to be good then i don't know how Jasmin De Vaux can be knocked for beating them fair and square.
One of my dark horses, Wade Out, runs tomorrow over 2m. Some of the books have him down as one for shorter distances but I’d still only like him over further myself as he got caught out in his bumper before finishing very strongly. Looks like I’m in the minority with that thought process though. I’d originally thought he could be a Challow type.
Is he good enough? I hope so, but not entirely convinced.
Not worried about his size though. Could have grown over the summer, anyway.
I've gone for the Gallagher too especially now that Patrick has name checked Supreme for Salvator Mundi. He stayed on really well in the Bumper on testing ground and struggled at Punchestown on quicker surface (albeit losing a shoe) so mid trip feels right.

He reportedly missed work before Punchestown. Redemption Day didn't improve from Leopardstown IMO and it was just a disappointing race.
He looked great in his PTP, bumper debut was great and showed in the Champion Bumper he was the best horse, having travelled around the outside the whole way. He has the ideal profile of a Gallaghers winner.

Agree with all of this. I’ve also heard mention that he’s at the top of the novice hurdle pecking order at Closutton and I presume they’ve schooled most if not all of them by now.
His size doesn’t worry me based on his jumping in his PTP.

'Top of the Pecking order ' ........wowsers. That is very interesting.

Jalon D was injured in the Champion Bumper, which probably means we don't know whether he would have won or come 2nd, or stayed in 3rd, if not injured.
He could be better yet, than the form he showed in that race, and having beat Redemption Day beforehand, is easily one of the best from Bumpers last season.
Now him and his Bumper rivals need to do battle vs the P2P, Flat horses, French hurdlers.
It's always interesting in the Novice Hurdles when all the differing strands of form from different disciplines come together.
If anyone is interested in the last horse he put up for bumpers it's a horse called You Proof for the Double Green. He was second behind Thatsdwayimthinkin (now with Gavin Cromwell) in a P2P in February but still achieved a very good P2P rating of 92+. He ran for Walter Connors in his point so I'm assuming he moved privately to his current connections.
"YOU PROOF (FR) is a big chasing type by Muhtathir, whose dam is a half-sister to Group 3 placed filly Sandy's Charm from the same family as 2019 champion European three-year-old colt Sottsass. A €70,000 vendor buy-back at the 2023 Derby sale, this fellow always travelled well, and he disputed the running two out except that he couldn't cope with the winner from before the last. He should effortlessly atone if seen again in points this season, whilst the early March foal should blossom into a horse that should easily make his presence felt over distances in the region of two and a half miles on the track as a five-year-old."

He also highlights You Proof as his horse to follow in the Timeform book
Edit - just watched the vid. Didn't realise it was a follow on of the book
I've never bothered with the Timeform book - is it any good in comparison to OJA and JTF? I'm only interested in new recruits rather than open horses.
First time i have bought it Jackie to be honest. I only got it because it was out and i was waiting for OJA. I got Paul Ferguson's too . OJA is the best by far but the timeform and PF ones are pretty much the same. One good advantage of the Timeform one is they get to a lot of the lesser trainers who run through their horses and highlight which ones are well handicapped. I did a list of them and back them when they come out for very small stakes as a little side line of trying to build a pot. 5 of those have ran so far producing 4 winners. 2 of them were Primoz and Jagwar which i backed as singles and in a double and it came up trumps. I got decent prices too. 2 more out today in Wade Out and Myretown but Myretown is on the drift. So all in all, not brilliant for the top yards but good for picking horses out of the smaller ones.

He made hard work of that! Similar to his bumper where he just gets caught out when the pace increases but then he finishes strongly. He wouldn't get away with that up in grade which makes me think he'll need further.
