Something seems amiss though. Not an excuse, i haven't backed any of Willies today. The similarities are there.

      • ….Mullins;

We run two very nice horses in this maiden hurdle. Kaid D’authie was going well when he fell at Navan, and we think he’s a very nice sort as we do Kalix Delabarriere.

He won his bumper in Ballinrobe, beating Seo Linn who has won a Listed race at Cheltenham since. We think he’s very good too and it’s a pity they have to take each other on but that’s the way it’s fallen. Two very good horses and we’ll have to see which one is the best on the day.

Kaid D’authie also has the experience of a run over hurdles in Auteuil and it can be a huge advantage to have that French experience under your belt.

        • Wouldn't want Kaid D'Authie winning over that trip tomorrow with a view to the Supreme.

As noted a few times previously, he's never won the Supreme with a horse that has won over further prior to the festival.

I cashed some of mine in as well. But today I saw something which made me reinvest. I don’t think I will regret it.

Yep, he’s right back in the picture for me.
That was a good performance from the front and as good a performance from any Supreme possible thus far imo

Many of his Supreme winners lost over further before the Supreme?

Champagne Fever the one I can immediately think of. Although he won other 2m 2f and had an excuse when beaten over 2m 4f. So I wouldn't chuck a whole load of weight behind him backing up the stat.

                Is there others?

I'd be wanting Kaid to win today personally, to have any real hope in any festival race. Without a valid excuse anyway (not the trip)

                  It's a nonsense stat anyway.
No logic or thought, just is what it is.
But as Cod would say, it is a fact.

It probably is, yeah, as you have said before, Ballyburn could have won either novice hurdle, but obviously Willie still chose the longer option for him.

There's loads of other stats out there that have stood the time. The Challow winner stat, 5yo in Arkle stat, that Gold Cup 'Heavy Ground' thingy, Willie Handicap Chase........must be hundreds more.

                      • Laafi won his maiden hurdle at Limerick with the second highest recorded RPR in a maiden hurdle this season (134). Kainsbourg, in second, has the joint fifth highest (131) with The New Lion according to my records which are:

                        1. Salvator Mundi - 135
                        2. Laafi - 134
                        3. Workahead - 134
                        4. Jasmin De Vaux - 132
                        5. The New Lion - 131
                        5. Kainsbourg - 131

Shout if you think I’ve missed something!

                        • Should Regents Stroll win today, do people think the owners will split Potters Charm and Regents Stroll at the festival? If so, in what way? I’m quite keen to get Regents Stroll in the portfolio but not sure on which race given the connections.

Salvator was 135 I believe, if you class him as this season

….not sure about ownership but Sam Twiston-Davies just been on telly, seemed to suggest Potters run over 2m was purely strategic to tighten him up for the Turners.

Cor that’s one to think on. It’s definitely this season … but May form is so hard to judge. I’ll add him to the list and edit my post.
