  • Regents Stroll looks a big dozy bastard

    • That was quite nice Regents stroll, fluffed 2nd last but otherwise pinged his hurdles, went decent gallop and sauntered home.

….into 25-1 for both Turners & AB. Nicholls reckons ‘he’s probably our best novice’.

Related to Denman, reminds me of Denman

Probably a good engine, but they will obviously be expecting plenty more when he goes over fences.

I thought, bar a couple, he was fairly slick over his hurdles, given the size of him!

          • Thought cobden was prepared to make the running on RS , pulled him in when something went on at a decent gallop, says to me they wanted a true run race, imo he's a turners horse potentially.

            • He's going to love a fence and trip Regent Stroll proper big baby at the moment.

                  • Cobden post race said: He's a 2 1/2 mile horse, and he hopes he doesn't run too much between now and March. Take from that what you will. Could see him in turners galloping relentlessly, but would be vulnerable to something with a turn of foot.

That is how it will play out. He's a whopper. Likes to gallop. They'll look after him and avoid the AB. He'll possibly finish in the places in the Turners after being left behind in the straight.

Also spoke of not being happy throughout as he was "doing too much" and potentially dropping to 2m before March so he learns to settle. I'd be fairly certain he'd go Turners (for right or wrong) and if he sorts out his jumping (he was fine when he had a stride, but not great otherwise), I reckon he'll be best of the British

….last bit of 25-1 Turners with 365, others look to have cut.

                            Exactly how I see it

                            • What are peoples thoughts on races going forward for Regent's Stroll?

I'm really hoping they don't go down the Challow Hurdle route with him.

I'd prefer a Formby and then onto the 2m4f race at Cheltenham end of January that Gidleigh Park won last season.

Cobden mentioned 2m which would suggest the Formby that you want.
Nicholls namechecked the Challow, with the caveat that he doesn't want to run him against Quebecois...

"He did it well, but he's got to learn from mistakes like that – it's what it's all about. He's as good a young horse we've had in a long time. We've seen what he can do at home and what he did in his bumpers. How far he can go who knows?
"It's a long way off before I decide what we do with him. I've got to get experience into him. Ultimately he'll be a lovely chaser one day. I was going to run him in the Challow, but we've also got Quebecois in that. He's not short of speed.
"I won't want to run two of them against him. I've not made a plan, I was thinking about the Challow and I probably still am."

I don't know which way it will go, but I'd say he could easily go Formby given his keenness today
