  • This acceleration round the bend to put Valgrand didn't really happen though. If he was in the handicap race first up, he'd have been going the same pace as them and made no ground. Valgrand just slowed (despite not setting a fast pace), making it look like Potters Charm has motored away.

I like the horse - I said before Friday he was on my pre season shortlist for the AB and I haven't seen anything yet that shows he'd have a better chance in the Turners than he would in the AB.

Let's see him in the grade 1s next where we might have a decent Irish horse or Nicholls number 1 as opposition and if he shows an actual turn of foot there, then I'll accept he's a Turner horse, albeit I think the Irish have a strong hand in the race from their bumper horses.

I can see that argument (Valgrand slowing made him look quicker) although the time comparison with another race is not an exact science (too many variables), so wouldn't be as categorical.

I also see the bartlett argument but just don;t really see them going that way. maybe if we get a dry week and the turners looks Irish dominated, both possible I suppose.

      • The yellow clay disappeared from oddschecker. Betfair exchange doesn’t seem alarming. Am I missing anything?

Bet365 quote him in all of the novice hurdles.

          • Just looked on oddschecker and all the main bookies are blank, for the Turners, but have him priced up on their sites so must be a glitch.

            • I really like the form of the 4yo bumper at Punchestown at the end of last season. Sermandzarak, the winner, out today against Zillow over 2 miles. Yeshil, the second and now with Henry, out at Cork tomorrow over 2m. I’m not sure the prices for Cork will be out in time for a double unfortunately.

              • That looked a decent novice hurdle to follow. I'd expect the 2nd and 3rd to win next time out. Those HDB horses that win a bumper usually end up being pretty decent.

Agreed. The front 2 looked very good I thought.

Chances of Mullins and Townend getting done for schooling are slim to none but the massive drift on Zillow and then the easy ride he was given would be raising alarm bells if it had been many other trainers...

Was reported to look big enough in the ring but Gary and Ruby

With the weather we've had, i think its sensible to assume Willie might not start firing fully until into December, so I'm expecting plenty of his to be turned over in the mean time

                          • Son Of Anarchy crossed out of the 'possible' list

Argento Boy marked up very slightly for the AB. Next run will be telling

Big Westerner a half brother to Stay Away Fay

That could turn out a good race

Gordon getting some runs in for a handicap tilt next season, no doubt
