This acceleration round the bend to put Valgrand didn't really happen though. If he was in the handicap race first up, he'd have been going the same pace as them and made no ground. Valgrand just slowed (despite not setting a fast pace), making it look like Potters Charm has motored away.
I like the horse - I said before Friday he was on my pre season shortlist for the AB and I haven't seen anything yet that shows he'd have a better chance in the Turners than he would in the AB.
Let's see him in the grade 1s next where we might have a decent Irish horse or Nicholls number 1 as opposition and if he shows an actual turn of foot there, then I'll accept he's a Turner horse, albeit I think the Irish have a strong hand in the race from their bumper horses.
