  • Charly Milpied saying Noel George & Amanda Zetterholm planning on bringing plenty of horses over this season.

I asked him if Kloth of Utopia is being considered and he says he is

He's had 3 runs now, with his latest run earning him a 132 rating (66 FR). He could be one for a hcap but I've snaffled some big prices on BFX for the Ballymore, that last run was ultra impressive to my eye.

One worth keeping an eye on for sure though either way

    • If Romeo Coolio , William Munny and Salvator Mundi all show up in the Supreme Novice Hurdle ., Then it will have been my most successful A/P. year for the race .
      Managed to only back 5 A/P. for this race , instead of the usual 15 !! . Sounds like the other 2 won't be there , so a 60 % strike rate . . .
Mind You , Plenty of time for Willie to change his Mind , Just need to back the Nicky Henderson Runner now. ..

            • Nice bit of blue for Romeo Coolio on oddscheker today and rightfully so. He should be fav after that debut and in light of GE's comments.

Edit - just seen Gavin Lynch has put him up which explains the move. Rightful fav now, all the same.

Based upon GL’s dismal Cheltenham picks last year and the fact that he can’t see any further than his nose, then RC is one I’d happily oppose……..and this is from someone who thought RC was the third coming last year!

                  I'm against him myself.
Had so much success following Kayf Tara's progeny once they met deep ground or stepped up in trip, that I find it hard to see Elliott training this one to win a supreme.
Having said that if we get a dry Spring the ground is going to be at it's softest on the Tuesday. And Elliot seems set on 2 miles for the minute.

I dismissed Slade Steel early last year so what do I know.

Got fortunate betting wise with him though with the whole Ballyburn avoidance cover doubles etc and exchange movements.

Which sums up why it's such a poor selection from Gavin Lynch. He can't even claim visuals when it's a performance at least 30lbs behind what would be required to win a Supreme. It's a pure guess based on last years bumper and the hype surrounding him.

Looking at him in the paddock at Down Royal I'd say we won't see the best of him until he sees a fence. A big horse who is made for chasing.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Anyone know what ratings are generally given to Supreme winners for their maiden victory around this time of year?
Not be a huge ratings man myself.

                        Just had a quick search
Am I correct in saying that the last two winners got ratings in the 120’s?

I was looking yesterday. There are large variations but the two most recent were 124 and 125. Summerville Boy was 120 in defeat FTO. Con Hill was 150 on debut.

                            Indeed

                            Slade Steel 124
                            Marine Nationale 125

Would take very little notice of Romeo Coolio's RPR in all honesty

He could have won by 30L if he wanted, was nothing more than a canter round

It did seem hugely reactionary. First big gun out - bet it.
