Just seen the race, he was very keen expending plenty of energy all the way around. The others in front looked plenty settled. Quite impressed how he picked them up tbh. My take on the supreme is SM improves a ton and wins or some absolute rag nobody was thinking about wins. This division very underwhelming imo.

They wont be able to go fast enough to get him to stop pulling, if a performance like that can win a festival novice hurdle I'll be very surprised, lots to learn over the next 8 weeks, he has the engine, Mullins & his staff just need to organise everything else to get the best from him on the day, on the plus side at least he goes home with a win & everything working as its been a while between races for him.

I think he's going to destroy them in the Supreme. PT and Patrick weren't remotely bothered about his hurdling, and he'll improve for better ground. There doesn't look too be anything else in the betting that they should be worried about.
Took 5/1 straight after and tempted to go in again.

I wouldn’t want to be steaming in at 7/2 after that…
BUT
He was so fresh for the first mile or so, was coming back off of a break (whilst the others all had the benefit of a recent run) and still managed to win fairly comfortably in the end.
Plenty of improvement to come and whilst the jumping worries me… there were “reasons” for it being poor.
(Needs another run pre-festival imo)

Financially what you've said is obvious, of course, If you're on at much bigger.

….re SM;
Patrick Mullins, assistant to his father, said: “The engine is massive. After half a mile I thought this horse can’t win on his first run in six months when he’s pulling like that on heavy ground.
“Because he was keen Paul didn’t want to let him jump and he didn’t jump, so he’d every reason to get beaten and still won.
“It looked to me like he took a blow after the second-last and you could see Paul went down and gave him a squeeze and came with a run down to the last. He kept everything tight down to the last and there should be a lot of improvement there.
“I think in a faster run race, being let jump, he’ll improve. Paul couldn’t let him jump today because he would have been even keener and jumping his way to the front. I wouldn’t be worried about his jumping in a stronger run race.
“I think he’s probably had a hard race today and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went straight to Cheltenham.”

Just watched a replay of the Triumph to see how Salvator Mundi jumped back in March. He settled well for Brian Hayes towards the back of mid division and jumped pretty well. Got in close to a couple and sort of bunny hopped but was pretty economical if not spectacular at the rest.
Following such a long break today was a tough test for him in exacting conditions against a very useful rival in Kel Histoire. Salvator could have got beaten and it wouldn't necessarily have been a total disaster.
But he won despite almost pulling Paul out of the saddle early on and jumping poorly for the most part.
He's by no means a banker for Cheltenham but imagine he'll go straight there now and Willie will now have a pretty good idea of the areas where he will have to improve.

Relief is my feeling at the moment. I thought Mundi was struggling turning for home but he has some engine to show that burst of speed in the home straight. I think he'll improve massively for that.
Main thing for me is that it keeps the Mundi Supreme and Kopek Turners combination intact. Just need Kopek to have done his hurdling homework since his debut...
