Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Spectre Racing - Forever William and Absolutely Fine

I've got some exciting news to share. Spectre Racing have acquired two horses to be offered as a pair, to race together in genuine syndicated ownership with Dan Skelton. They are being offered at less than the price point that so many people fed back was the comfortable entry point for ownership when syndicating The King Of Ryhope. The total cost is less than a £1.25 each way bet each day. In this day and age there’s not a whole lot you can do with such a small amount of money, but if you love your horse racing you’ll be able to own two horses in the leading Racing Yard in the UK.

A one-off payment of £899, or alternatively £299 and £55 per month buys your share in both horses, and includes all costs for the season through to the end of May 2025. You will not be asked to pay anything else. You will also receive your share of prizemoney, and any future re-sale value should either of the horses be sold. This is genuine ownership with all the experience and benefits you’d expect. It isn’t the microshare type offering where you are essentially part of something with thousands of others. You’ll get to spend time at the yard with Dan, and with your horses. Plus, access to the very many good horses in the Yard. The facilities are first class, as is the Trainer himself. A first-class communicator and an all-round nice guy, who is prepared to give up his time and share his knowledge with us. Don’t forget Dan was the leading UK Trainer at Cheltenham this season, winning two Grade 1’s and a Premier Handicap, and he was extremely unfortunate not to win his first Trainers Championship. Something he is determined to put right this season. Dan thinks our two horses can make a good contribution to that, as we feel they are winners in waiting.

Communication is continual with regards your horses, which will be both in written and video format. There will also be some live video sessions through the year. And there will also be discussions about other horses in the yard.

    The horses are:

Forever William. An experienced hurdler, operating from a handicap mark that gets him into good races. A stayer on the flat that has converted to hurdles, and has the scope to improve once stepped up to three miles. He’ll run in the better staying hurdles over the summer, before going novice chasing in the Autumn when his hurdles mark may top out. He’s plenty big enough for chasing, and has already schooled nicely. He arrived carrying plenty of condition, so he’s been given a race over an inadequate trip to speed the fitness process up and to get some sharpness. He’ll be running again soon, and he’s expected to improve significantly on his second start for the yard.

Absolutely Fine. A horse who had been backward and just needed time to mature and grow into himself. Which has conveniently helped to get him a handicap mark that he’s very capable of winning races from. He’s improved physically over the last period, and Dan feels he is ready to win his races. He’ll start off very soon over two and half miles, and while he may need that first race off a break, he is expected to improve quickly for his racing. He’s also a nice longer-term prospect and is expected to make a decent Chaser.

There's a lot of hard work gone on in the background to make this happen. Specifically to do it at the pricepoint that many of you said would make ownership accessible. It's therefore a huge bonus to be able to do this with two horses, not just one. Both horses will be out over the next couple of weeks, and at the price, just like The King Of Ryhope I think we're well ahead in terms of value. Both will win races, and they have plenty of future scope. It would be fantastic to get a good Fat Jockey contingent involved, particularly as I know a number of you guys had expressed and interest at this level.

    Thanks Paul (Spectre)
