Just noticed actually that Unibet have got markets up for 2026, so will have to give them a gander. Bizarrely Constitution Hill isn’t in their Champion Hurdle market.

    • No Galopin in the Gold Cup either. Majborough at 25's was worth a dabble I thought.

This is the second time I’ve read this post and was shocked with no Galopin, then realised it was about next year.

            • That BDA 16/1 could be big if she wins CH. know they are saying chasing career, but if she wins convincingly, it would be a hard not to comeback
              and defend?

If she wins you’d think they’d try and do a Dawn Run and go for Gold?

                • Constitution Hill at 6/1 looks very fair. He's 8/11 on the machine currently. That'd make him about 3/1 for next years race. If he wins this year, I can't see him being bigger than 2/1 for next years race.

Likewise, the Lossiemouth price looks fair. She's about 8/11 on the machine too. That'd make her 11/1 for the Champion Hurdle next year. Again, I can't see her being 6/1 if she were to win. The excuse this year is that they haven't had a good prep. If State Man gets beaten this year, I think they'll both follow a similar 2m program in Ireland which will be easier on her.

Not at all, more my reaction to doing it twice that was funny. Reminded me of one of mates (who was not really into football) cheering on a replay of a Shesrer goal on the tv wildly. The whole pub looked at him. I went to the bar. Didn’t want to be associated, ha.

It was hard work just to get connections to run her in a Champion Hurdle, so i'm not convinced that after winning a Championship race they will decide to go over fences the next season. Faugheen in the last Champion Hurdle winner to go chasing, and that was over 4 years later! Rock On Ruby went novice chasing 2 years later having attempted to defend his title the next season. Hors La Loi III went chasing but not before he attempted to defend his win, only to refuse to race! Collier Bay went chasing three seasons after winning the Champion. We shall forget about Granville Again's one attempt at chasing 3 years later when pulling up after the horse lost all enthusiasm for racing. Morley Street was a very unique one in that he went chasing before he won the Champion Hurdle! He went back chasing the next season but still ended up at the Champion Hurdle, finishing 6th. Beech Road who won the 1989 Champion Hurdle, went chasing 3 years later after finishing 4th in the 1990 edition and 8th in 1991. Celtic Shot went chasing two years later having also gone back to the Champion Hurdle to defend.

So, no wonder everyone refers to Dawn Run, as she was actually the last horse to win the Champion Hurdle and go chasing the next season, let alone go on to win the Gold Cup! She ran once in the 1984/85 season, winning, before injury ruled her out of the rest of the term (Having to use Wiki as I was only 4 at the time and even Racing Post stats don't go that far back!). She returned in 1985 before going on to land the 1986 Gold Cup, the rest is history.

So, to answer your question, if she was to win the Champion Hurdle, which remember wasn't even in the plan for this horse at the start of the season, then it is extremely unlikely that she goes chasing next season if history is anything to go by.
