Think that myself. Will be deep ground and a proper slog today. If JDV wins I could see him going Albert in view of the emergence of TNL and Willie also looking to have a few others that could run in the Turners. Won't be betting him for the race though as gets a bit silly throwing points here there and everywhere. The Albert is so unpredictable each year as well.

    • Bob Olinger won this on heavy - didn't do him any harm as a Turners trial.

Willie couldn't care less about TNL. If he thinks JDV is his best chance at the Turners, he goes there. He's got others who will want the Bartlett test more than a horse who's shown a good turn of foot in his 3 wins.

….looking at Saxon’s Race Planner, only Affordale Fury (in 2023) came 6th in this before running 2nd in AB.

Ginto won and probably would have won the AB if not going wrong.

            • The Yellow Clay seems strangely solid in the betting. Gordon had definitely said he’s a good ground horse previously.

Any win today and any festival race prices knocking around for him? Can't see anything

Today's conditions will be stamina sapping and he has plenty of that . Also he clearly has the stand out form so far this season of the bunch today.

Yeah, been banging TYC drum for a while now. Still think he's very good value for the Bartlett having followed a similar route as Ginto/Death Duty and both of them went off short enough!

Made him my biggest winner of the race so far, that said, I could do with him not beating Jasmin today!

Connections of TYC have said he'll go for the Bartlett anyway, by the sounds of it.

Willie has consistently said JDV is a stayer so we'll see today. If the race is run at a good clip and he slogs on through the mud to win then the Albert will definitely be under consideration. He does have Kopek, Kel Histoire, Kawaboomga and possibly a couple others who could all run big races in the Turners.

Funny how Mullins so say uses this race for his Turners horses and Gordon for his Albert horses. One of them must be wrong

Personally think TYC should be fav today on what he's shown so far.

I think you'd be wanting Jasmin to lose in order for him not to go for the Turners!

This is a key trial for a Turners, albeit not used by Willie much, however he did send Next Destination & Champ Kiely, in recent seasons, to the Turners after winning it.

Of the last 10 winners of the race, 5 ended up in the Turners, 2 winners, 2 placed and 1 pulled up who was never travelling!

2 of the last 10 winners went to the Bartlett, both trained by Gordon.

In recent years Willie hasn't sent a winner to the Bartlett after winning this, this includes Next Destination who won it on soft/heavy.

I agree, although it was extremely unlikely to happen given who trains the favourite and their bumper form ties, where Jasmin beat him plenty well enough.
