  • The Tote; Placepots, Exacta’s, Tricasts, Scoop, win & place.

I’m probably not alone in doing daily placepots and loads of reverse Exacta’s throughout the Festival and they seem popular with others.

With my mates in the pub, we pool our placepots and often perm Exactas in the big handicaps. I got the Boodles Exacta last year which was a nice start. For small stakes they can pay a few bob.

So, for a bit of fun next week post your Tote bets on here and fingers crossed one or two go in.

As these are often done on a last minute whim and many FJs are on the course, ‘aftertiming is definitely allowed in this thread’

I attempted 'all Irish' last time in a few of the handicap hurdles... from memory a few paid out but only in the races they were really well fancied.

Quite a lazy approach but was lured in by the year Jeff Kidder won the Boodles and I'd had all the Irish expect him, and replaced him with the well fancied Nicholls runner (who did place) so I missed out there from what would have been a beauty!

A way to cover outsiders is how I've often thought about it being utilised. Not sure how others approach it

I think the Ultima could play again this year, I didn’t do it few years ago but it was the one with the conditional won where 4 relatively fancied horses made the first 4.

Sure it was a sky bet rab. I reckon we could have a repeat with Meetingofthewaters giovinco the Goffer and chianti classico. Stumptown could maybe make it in as well.

We did combo tricasts (5 runners, £5 a line for £30 a race) on the handicaps last year. Landed it in the boodles. paid about £2,600 from memory. Jazzy Matty, Byker and Risk Belle

This has been sent straight to the lads as a justification of my poor tipping performance on Thursday last year

Not sure what happens to placepot now the cross country is cancelled. Void leg I guess - can’t include seventh race due to bets already placed?

….really? Think it’s a void leg, plenty will already be on.
