  • I think it might be the windiest place on earth, really blustery today with a cold chill, couldn’t get a more of a drying day yet again, that’s 4 in a row, all comes down to how much we get Sunday possibly with some people saying 17mm is a possibility

        Yep agree.
I see RoadToCheltenham updated today Soft, good to soft in places, I think he actually took the Sandown update and mistook it for Cheltenham as there's been no HQ update all day...

        • Cheltenham soft good to soft in places now according to pullein in racing post. Tuesday will depend on how much they get at the weekend . Forecast approx 4-6 mm at weekend . If higher then soft Tuesday if lower then there will be good to soft somewhere in the description. Monday Tuesday also dry/mostly dry.

Definitely Cheltenham. They updated it on Admin this morning

            (Cheltenham
            (Updated: 08:29, 8th Mar)

            Tue 12 Mar

            Going/Track:

Soft, Good to Soft (in places)

            ...

& quotes in the Post tonight:

"We're dry again today which is our fourth consecutive dry day," he said on Friday. "We're soft, good to soft in places on the Old and New courses. We could get a light shower tonight but nothing significant volume-wise and then another dry day tomorrow before showers tomorrow evening."

What we'll start on really hinges on what rain we'll get over the weekend.
"Both Monday and Tuesday look mainly dry – we might get the odd shower – and clearly we've only just started drying so it won't take much to get it back to soft ground. If we were at the lower end of the forecast and we remain dry outside of that there might be some good to soft in it somewhere for Tuesday."

OK thanks RTC, odd that no updates have been given by Jockey Club all day.
Let's see how much dumps Sat night/Sunday...

It's a disgrace. The going stick readings on BHA are still showing as Yesterday morning - just the official going description that has been updated

                • Fortunately for those of us going it's looking like a cloudy week next week with no rain which is perfect IMO.

                      • And still no update on the going. They must spending Fridays working from home.

Got to go with local advice. Assume Friday was another dry day?

And what is it like this morning, no rain as yet?

Many thanks, locals. Or near locals.

                        • This is BHA site update as of 7.39am this morning (pathetic no GoingStick reading since Thursday):

Good to Soft, Soft (in places)
                          (GoingStick:4.6 on 07-03-2024 at 09:00)

101mm of rainfall in February. 21mm so far in March. Dry Tuesday
                          - Friday. Dry forecast during the day Saturday and then showers
moving in later in the evening, overnight and into Sunday (5-8mm
in total). Monday - Wednesday now look largely dry with some
uncertainty when the next rain band arrives on Thursday. Daytime
temperatures of 10-11 degrees with overnights of 4-8 degrees.

                          • Drying very quickly

Good/Soft has to be favourite now.

                            • They must be following us!!

As stated above, the rain today and tomorrow and its intensity could be the difference between good to soft and soft. Start soft, but good to soft by later in the day Tuesday?

Suspect Banbridge's connections will opt to run although they could leave it late on Thursday to make that decision, just like last year.

Impact of the rain will be massive. In 3 days, XC improved 1.5 on the going stick. Improving the same amount will have it Good to Soft by Wednesday if no rain. Obviously, we are expecting some though so that's unlikely. I'd be hopeful it won't be a bottomless XC though, which would be pretty remarkable given the reported conditions the other week.
