I don’t take such a dim view of the bumpers but I do think Salvator Mundi and Supersundae look good bets at their prices right now.

Kopek Des Bordes who ticks both boxes also looks good.

Otherwise, I had a list of last summer’s 3yo purchases and none on my list have been put aside. KDB was the last one out. So unless I’ve missed one, which is perfectly likely, they’ll have to be purchased this Spring/Summer. And with the French having said they’d like to keep more of their own, I do wonder if we’ve seen the main contenders already.

One race too many as with many of Willie's this year. We go again next season.

Can't imagine there will be many takers even at that price after his last two runs. Far too many Q marks now. Would want to see what he does on his next run before getting involved.

That ground is getting close to being a joke imo.

Edit - PP go 66/1 crikey!
Is he ok ? Beaten half the track ! Can't be just ground related surely??

Looks to be getting better too

And he will still only be 8 next festival

He also showed he doesn't need really soft ground

Perhaps not. But in my opinion, that’s good value for the joint highest rated horse in the race who is 8yo. There’s a risk with it, but there is with all of them in this race. I’m happy taking 7/1 and have done.

                  • If he did get back to his best next season then of course 7/1 would look mahoosive!!

I think Patrick knew he wasn’t going on the ground and just pulled him up and trotted home, like 8 of the 12 runners did. Most of them beat 40+ lengths at different stages of course.

Tells you all you need to know about the ground imo.

What was the official going and were their comments from jocks saying it was riding differently?

The going was yielding. And every race was slower than standard on yesterday’s card.

Aye it’s saying yielding as EE says.

Not for me though, as I said, 8 of them basically stopped riding at various points in the race. Not telling me all 8 had issues, including the top 3 in the betting who were all fancied.

                            • Champion Chase really up for grabs now. Jonbon back as Fav which says it all. Marine Nationale the forgotten horse perhaps?? Currently a best price 14/1.

Yeah it was a mess of a race, but with so little form to go on, I think we need to at least entertain the idea that some of them might not be that good.

The GITM, Cantico, Mywayofthinkin, Harbour Highway form line looked deep but isn't stacking up at all. Nothing in behind Port Joulain has pushed his form forward either whilst he looked very keen to me yesterday which may well have contributed to him cutting out. On the contrary, The Passing Wife's form links in nicely with Redemption Day's. Wingmen has been such a visibly green horse this year that it is hard to take his form at face value.
