To be honest I don't know if 2 seconds is massive or not given the circumstances/scenarios of the two races. I was just amusing myself and thought I'd share it. But I've convinced myself to have a bet on Conflated in Ryanair. And I will sleep better tonight.

2 seconds per furlong is a huge difference. The King Stands winner in 2023 basically won at a 12 second per furlong pace. Constitution Hill at Xmas won the Christmas Hurdle averaging 14.5 seconds and the race was quite slow. The difference between the cross country chasers and the gold cup chasers is nearly as much as Constitution Hill and the best 5 furlong sprinters.

The yardstick has always been one second equals four lengths, so two seconds is quite a lot.

They would be my most likely …..but wouldn’t rule out Galvin & even Coko might have chance

It will be one of those 4….and prob best value to back longest priced ones nearer time

if I had to say I’d go DW, but heart says Indo

Was 3.5 lengths behind minella indo and will be 3lbs worse off. Galvin has had a lot more x country schooling and had also been round the Cheltenham course. No need to over complicate things, that form won’t be overturned. Minella indo just wins. I actually can’t believe they’re nearly the same price now

Hope ur right, but GE said Galvin would be brought thru slowly this year to peak in spring

Galvin and delta are both being aimed at 2 races

The cross country and the grand national

They won't be trying at all with them until the national weights come out

Wouldn't be surprised at all if galvin overturned the form with delta work from last season now he's more experienced over the obstacles

He held every chance and got outbattled/outstayed. I Don't think the obstacles had anything to do with it.
Not much between them though, I acknowledge that.

The ground will play a huge part I’d imagine again. Galvin would most likely appreciate better ground of the 3 if for we got a dry spell in the lead up to the festival due to not been able to water the track

Did Galvin expend more energy than DW to get to the same position in the finishing straight and therefore had less left to give? I’ve not watched it back for a while, I don’t remember that being the case but all I can think of other than DW likes soft ground better than G does.

More experience over the obstacles won't be a negative

It is the ground that likely swung it in deltas favour

Though it could just be class I suppose

Delta had the engine to win a gold cup he just didn't jump close to well enough

I don't think galvin did have that class

Earlier in his career Delta was a good ground horse, not sure the ground being better isn't a good thing for him too
