Nap - Stage Star. CD specialist vs a regressing Allaho and Banbridge, who won't turn up if there's been a hint of drizzle in March

Lay - Lossiemouth. As a rule, I don't back any horse out of their juvenile season and we haven't even seen her run yet. Yes, she was the best of the bunch last year, but she wasn't winning by half the track so I'm not sure that the standard is high enough. Next year perhaps

E/w - Salvador Ziggy. Probably got the best form in the NHC, solid course form and only has 1 realistic target.

NAP - Storm Heart. Found this the hardest one. Could’ve just put up Marine Nationale as he’s got no credible opposition, but that’d be boring. So went with Storm Heart for a bit of value. He looks the pick of Willies bunch & his debut was really good, turn of foot was electric. If he wins at the DRF as the market expects, he’ll go really short for the Triumph.

LAY - Lossiemouth. Enough doubts about her over the trip against stronger stayers. Terrible price considering she hasn’t been seen this season. That said I do quite like the idea of an easier campaign after their juvenile season.

E/W - Monty’s Star. If I knew Fact To File definitely wasn’t going to the BANC he might’ve been my nap, really like him. Think he’s the best jumper we’ve seen of the staying novices, the distance will be perfect for him & he’s the cliche Henry improver over a fence.

Nap Jade Du Grugy - think she could be the real deal. The performance at Xmas was one of the best from a novice imo given how mind boggling the novices seem to be this year. Still a decent price as well compared to the front 2 in the market (double the price), she wins the solerina she goes fav no doubt about it. Think she’ll get WPM his mares novice back.

Lay Lossiemouth - just a fav you have to take on imo. Was between her or Allaho (least he’s been seen and ran reasonably well). Juveniles notoriously find it hard in open company, WPM has given her more time etc but one run and then the mares wouldn’t be ideal, especially for a juvenile taking on open graded horses for the first time.

E/W Monty’s Star - I really like this horse and think he’s your typical much improved chaser than hurdler. Yes it’s very cliche but in this instance I think it is the case. His first run was good, Rachael minded him and she really likes him. He then won easily next time out up to 3m. No doubt he’ll be in the frame come march, will make a bold prediction and it’ll be him, Fact To File and Stay Away Fay fighting out the finish, similar to the year Delta Work, Topofthegame and Santini fought out the RSA.

                      Nap g-s on day one
Lay everything in the bumper - pay out on the winner and retire on the profit from all the losers
EW something I haven’t backed if they go silly number of places in the first.

                      serious version

Nap Fact to File banc (assuming they keep him and GW apart) he’ll beat GW in any race. NB brighterdaysahead….the race is looking really spicy with JDG and DE as proper rivals but I think she’s special
Lay mystical power, dinoblue, Gaelic warrior …take your pick
EW Johnnywho AB (the only novice hurdle race I’d consider one of the trainers for and sure to improve a chunk for step up in trip) Gidleigh Park and JDR for an EW British novice hurdle treble/trixie

NAP - Gaelic Warrior. Turners. Yes, he'll jump right. But the potential opposition looks so poor in comparison, I think he could give 2 lengths away at every fence and still win.

Lay - Marine Nationale. Arkle. The division does looks poor as things stand and he is the most likely winner. However, while Facile Vega's debut wasn't pretty, the form of it is a darn site better than Marine Nationale's. If Facile Vega returns to form in Dublin, there'll be more pressure on Marine Nationale's fencing and to my mind, until he's proven he can jump at a decent clip, should be taken on at odds on.

Each Way - Firefox. County. Needs another run to qualify, but given the right ride at the DRF, i reckon this lad will get a mark in the high 130s/low 140s in time for Cheltenham. Has jumped for fun on both hurdling starts this year and demonstrated that hes capable of doing it at 2m pace. Gordon will be desperate to get a Cheltenham winner for these owners and his disappointing run in the Lawlors means he'll have a lovely mark for a handicap rather than taking on the Willie's best ones plus JDR and Gidleigh Park. Not quoted anywhere at the moment, but I'd assume he'll be 10/1 when added to the market and I'll be having a right good go at that.

Avoiding all the real short priced favourites my selections would be :

NAP - Ashroe Diamond (Mares Hurdle)
                                Lay - Burdett Road (Triumph)
EW - Monty's Star (Brown Advisory) and/or Hauturiere (Mares Chase)
