  • I've not backed Good Time Jonny, but can see the attraction.

My concerns would be that his run style is not ideal for your average Kim Muir.
    He doesn't jump well.
He could get hit with a much bigger rating due to his hurdles mark.
And is no certainty to get a top amateur on board if McManus wants to run one of his and have Derek ride.
    And his price.

I backed him over the weekend for the O'Driscoll race and thought he was lucky to be placed. Ran in a good few chases and plot or not, his jumping was not great in any of them. Not sure to my untrained eye if he passed tired horses on Sunday or stayed on. Maybe the Ultima is the plan. 25s NRNB My doubt would be that a Cheltenham fence would suit.

I agree that he didn't jump great but at no stage was any attempt made to win that race imo. He was scraping the rails on the outside of the track most of the way round, and only asked a question once those in front were long gone.

It was exactly what I wanted to see with a view too the Kim Muir. All eyes on the British handicapper now

I'd give him 146 if I were the British handicapper...

So would I as its obvious what they are up to but not sure they can. He has to have a mark in the low 140s at the very most, doesn't he?

If they use his hurdle mark i suppose they could just stick him on 147 but that would be extremely harsh given how he has jumped fences so far.

I actually think they won’t be too harsh and his mark might be ok. But we can never be sure when hurdles mark is so much higher.

              • Studfarm254 thought would move the earlier conversation here as opposed to the triumph thread.

FYI Lark In The Mornin is running tomorrow at Fairyhouse so unlikely running Saturday.

Will all depend on the weather if it goes ahead.

Likelihood is that he won't run if meeting goes ahead tomorrow I'm told

Yea I noticed that after I posted. I got kaleosun priced up with bet365, 33s NRNB. They payed a fair bit for him, could be plotting him or he might just be rubbish lol. Anyway if he doesn’t run well at weekend he won’t even get in so no harm done, I’m taking a chance

                    • Potentially one for the stupid questions thread, but has Jit Langy now qualified for a handicap with his 2 runs in France and his 2 Irish runs?

I felt that he was reasonably eye-catching at the weekend, finishing a few lengths off Absurde and King of Kingsfield in Ballyburn's romp off a 262-day break.

His debut RPR of 125 from May last year is decent enough, with Samui comfortably 4 lengths behind (the same horse that finished 7 lengths behind Mystical Power on his hurdles debut).

He has those ideal JP colours for a Cheltenham handicap and presumably would get a mid-130s mark before tax, on a line through King of Kingsfield? Looks ground versatile and would surely be shorter than 16/1 (NRNB) or 25/1 (antepost) on the day if turning up for the County, for example? There is the Coral Cup too, I suppose, but he isn't priced up for that (despite Willie seeing him as 'more of a Ballymore than Supreme type' in early season stable tours).

Jit Langy's profile has some similarities to State Man, winner of the County off 141, albeit I am far from making those comparisons.

Of course, if he is a run or two shy of running in a handicap, then ignore the above!

Requires one more run over hurdles

One of the French runs was a bumper so he'd need another hurdle run (imo)

Got it, thanks. Probably too late for that at this stage, knowing the trainer’s usual approach, but one to keep an eye on I suppose.

I like Cossack Chach myself ATM, his 3 runs so far have some very good form to them, Joseph knows how to win the Boodles too!
