The vet had a look at him and he’s actually had ulcers so we have treated him for that and he will head for the Coral Cup again. It proves that he is hard to train in the winter and hopefully he comes alive a bit later in the year. It is nice that we have a reason now to hang some moderate runs on.
Pulls this from out his sleeve, for when the stewards enquire about the sudden improvement in form

    • Apologies if this has already been questioned somewhere

What is the final date for the 4th run to qualify for the handicap hurdles this year?

      • You Wear It Well is 25-1 to pick up a second Cheltenham Festival win in the Mares' Hurdle and a breakthrough Grade 1 success, but Snowden could also enter last season's Mares' Novices' Hurdle winner in a handicap.
Snowden said: "We've been floating around the 140 mark for the majority of her career, but now she's been put up 4lb for finishing second last time. I'm half-thinking about the Coral Cup entry now, but we know she'll definitely be in strong contention for the Mares' Hurdle."

It'd be before final decs for each wouldn't it?

Imperial Cup on the Sunday will still be a qualifier?

          • Weights are published on 27th February with cut-off the 25th. Penalties apply after that but I'd imagine that, with novices, they'd want the 4th run by the 25th to allocate an initial mark.

            • Appreciate the majority will be on NRNB, but seen a fair bit of blue for Mistergif for the Pipe, but he needs one more qualifying run, and given how Willie likes to get at least 3 weeks in between runs you'd have to be thinking another run before the festival and then one at the festival is now highly unlikely.

I'm surprised some of the non-NRNB firms haven't dangled a bigger price carrot out there on him as they'll likely pick up some cash in doing so.

Michael purcell novices hurdle Thurles Feb 22.

There are still a few races Willie will use as prep for Cheltenham. That come after the coming weekend.
He could run in the listed race at Punchestown on Sunday if eligible.

For any juveniles wanting a mark..
Winning Fair juvenile Fairyhouse Feb 25

                    • Sa majeste and Quai de bourbon look the most likely ones from mullins for the pipe imo, surely if mistergif is to get another run in would need to be this coming weekend

Sa Majeste been given 140 IRE, so will be cutting fine for UK mark

                        Eagle Fang 125 IRE
                        Pacini 118 IRE

Nara will be near the 118/120 mark I guess but not got one yet.

Yes that would be tight on getting in for sa majeste with UK tax, nara going to be unlikely to get in the boodles then ain't she?

When did he get 140 do you know? If it was before the Cleeve Hurdle, the handicapper will have every excuse he wants to price him out of the Pipe.

New mark today, they must have asked for one.

Thanks. That'll be very close then I'd say. Think I'd almost prefer SM in the Coral Cup though.
