  • December ‘23 Yankee

    Whilst we await MoMs November selections we might as well start the December discussion.

    i note that last December we went with;
    Lossiemouth (TH): Gaelic W (Bally): Three Stripe Life (BANC): Did I Ask You That (CB).

    I make it 3 more monthly Yankees to go.

    Had to Google the bumper horse as it was ringing no bells! Did we have a pee Christmas and Christmas-New year Yankee last year? Feels like it could be a good idea as we'll have had 4 top weeks of racing before Santa arrives. From last weekend, I'm probably most interested in Ashroe Diamond for the Mare's. I thought that was a really nice comeback and her form from last year looks strong

      Has to be 1/100 that all the horses selected in the Dec yankee run between 26/12/2023 and 31/12/2023

      Anything this side of Christmas will get usurped

        National Hunt Chase feels like one we should be able to get a shortener in, not that I know which one and we may not have a strong consensus. Nick Rockett or Minella Cocooner appear to be the two potentials for Willie, I guess fact or file too but think they might think he’s better than this. Just think if we knew which Patrick would be riding we’d be on a max 4/1 shot on the day probably shorter

          That would be Three Card Brag The shortener has already got considerably shorter now though unfortunately.

            What price is he now Brooksie

            I grabbed some 20s as they went over the line on Sat but could easily have had more.
            I hate the race this year, I'm convinced Salvador Ziggy is still a massive runner and was over the top in the US, he's still my idea of the winner but I also have Minella Cocooner and Maxxum, four in the race is a diabolical position for me to find myself in and I haven't even backed Favori yet....

              What was the McNeil horse where the rating was kind of leaked and we were all, all over the place

                  I don’t see both Favori and three card brag running in the NH chase. The banc looks like it could be a wide open renewal and Gordy will want some runners. Both owners have previous for not wanting to run in the NH chase too. Escaria ten only ran due to being too high in the hcap and the fact that they could use their stable jockey that year due to covid. Gigginstown will also want to be represented in the banc if Favori keeps winning having won one of the better novice chases over 3miles already. It will be one plus Salvador ziggy depending on how the season plays out.

                    He's a general 10/1 shot still a little bit of 12/1 about in places and top price 14/1 888.

                    I don't really know what to make of Salvador Ziggy. On the pick of his form he's every chance, but the last run was a bit concerning. I'd have to see him again hopefully against some horses he'd be meeting in the NH Chase; summer form can be a bit deceiving. The way Maxxum was ridden last time I'd be of the opinion he might be Kim Muir bound. Couple more runs fishing for a mark most probably.

                      Not sure we'll see Ziggy before March, he may well be one we just have to monitor the markets for clues on his chances.
                      Maxxum yes I agree, or Irish National which is always a risk...

                        Maxxum has an entry at Navan on Sat in a hcap hurdle. Maybe they’ve given up on chasing with him
