The yellow was still available at 33s after the drf, seemed to be no interest at all, think maybe because he wasnt listed on the possible entries for the bumper hes been overlooked.

      • I still would favour You Oughta Know over The Yellow Clay personally. He was a big as a house in the parade ring at Leopardstown. Loads of work left in him!

YOK first run for 180 days....TYC first run for over 300. I'd imagine loads of improvement to come from both.

          • Worth pointing out as well the TYC was pulled out of a few Hurdle opportunities due to Gordon not wanting to run him in deep winter ground so the Leopardstown surface turning Soft would not have helped him. Spring ground at the festival could bring out further improvement.

            • Gordon’s jockey booking will be informative. To my eye TYC looked to be stripped a lot fitter than YOK. YOK being a year older & more filled out probably led to that conclusion too though in fairness.

Dutching both at current prices seems a fairly strong play in a weak market.

You'd be a better judge than me having seen them in the flesh and YOK has obviously been given a strong word of encouragement from the maestro. As they were close together, backing both is probably the sensible approach as you say.

                • I think going with a more mature physically stronger animal is a good play.

Ordinarily I’d agree but does anyone remember Hairry Molly winning ?
Scrawny thing, tiny frame, would have won no beauty contests….

That'll be her out. Ligament issue

I've been backing The Yellow Clay since the DRF, and was hugely impressed by the way that he finished having been shuffled back so badly approaching the turn for home - I can easily envisage him cutting through the field coming up the hill, and if better ground could also help him, he could go very close.

                            • I’ve my head wrecked trying to figure out who’s winning this. With Jeroboam gone it’s basically impossible. I actually was most impressed by Wingmen of Elliots bunch and don’t think he’s even going. Really hope Teeshan runs, I know people will say sure he beat nothing the other day. Maybe so but he was only playing with them. It’s been years since I’ve even backed an English runner in the bumper and I might fall flat on my face here if he does run but I’m buying into the hype. Uppa Teeshan!

                              • The fact that Teeshans owner is the same as Captain Teague who placed last year surely helps for his chances of convincing Paul ‘we could save him for Aintree’ Nicholls of running at the festival.

And if he runs, he’s surely better than a 7/1 poke? I vowed to leave the race alone but did have a nibble pre race when seeing that point to point video. I’m surprised at the lack of chat about him in this thread since last weekends win. Arguably the most impressive P2P run and the most impressive debut (probably asides from Maughreen). I think 7s with the stipulation of Nicholls doing a Nicholls removed is a blinding bet.
