This was off the record Paul, so worth keeping half an eye, albeit being syndicate owned for some reason does dampen my enthusiasm a little

That's definitely different then Jim. Patrick would rarely talk about their best bumper horse(s) publicly until after they've laid it down on the track.

The syndicates only other horse that ran in a bumper didn't turn out too bad either

Certainly didnt Oneman, I had a quick scan when I seen the colours and it passed by me that Bacardys was actually syndicate owned too. That fucker was a bit of a rogue over fences mind wasnt he

That's a fact. I'd give up too after following Flooring Porter around for the year!

Some drift on DB Cooper, out to 6/5 from 8/13.

Probably money for Emmets horse who is also a ptp winner.

Apologies to bring this up again as I can't get it in my thick head and I cannot find reference in this thread....is Soir De Garde (declared for Punchestown bumper on Sunday) eligible for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham as a 5yo turning 6yo at the end of next month?

My memory says 6yo are now not eligible for the CB, but any confirmation would be greatly appreciated!

Believe 6 is the cut off alright but not sure if it’s based on start of National hunt season or turn of the year coming

Edit - yea 6 year olds cannot run in National hunt flat races from 23/24 season

My understanding is that horses that are 6yo on 1st Jan 2024 (and therefore at the time of running) are eligible for the 2024 Champion Bumper.

The following changes will be introduced for the start of the 2023/24 season:

                        1. A maximum of three runs permitted in National Hunt Flat races.

The only exceptions will be where:
                        • the fourth run is in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, or the Grade 2 NHF at Aintree. Where the fourth run is in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, a further fifth run is permitted in the Grade 2 NHF at Aintree.
                        • In the case of fillies and mares, a fourth run is permitted in either the Listed Mares’ NHF at Sandown in March or the Grade 2 Mares’ NHF race at Aintree. If the fourth run is in the Listed Mares’ NHF at Sandown in March then a further fifth run is permitted in the Grade 2 Mares’ NHF race at Aintree.

                        2. 6-year-olds no longer permitted to run in National Hunt Flat races after the final day of the Jump season (in any given Season commencing from the 2023/24 Season).

My reading of this is that 6 year olds can run this season but will not be allowed to run from May 2024 onwards

Another Elliott odds on beaten in a bumper. Those with Romeo Coolio tickets will be hoping he's a lot better than DB Cooper as Jeraboam Machin won that fairly cosily.

Would be interesting to see how the home work stands between the one today and RC.
