The last 3 festivals I think I've left the course before the Bumper has started.

      Crock of shite.

2 pages already, you should be ashamed of yourselves .... 2000 Guineas is more exciting

Me too. Bagging a booth in town to watch Champions League, booze and bring your own Pizza.
          Far more exciting.

Where's the "Bring your own Pizza" bar?
"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

I left before the Facile Vega one - it was a miserable day in the absolute pissing rain. My wife said let's leave and get a head start on our traditional post races Wagamamas. I was like nah, let's stay but I need to go to the loo.

I walk in and it's like a morgue. Everyone is soaking and I think a lot of people had been let down by Shishkin's no show.

Two lads walk in. One goes "Why is everyone so quiet?" and the other produces a wad of cash and shouts "COS THEY'VE NAE WON ANY FUCKING MONNNNEEEYYYYY!".

Someone turned round and lamped him and all hell broke loose. I snuck out and came up to my missus "So, about those noodles...."

                Frog and Fiddle

It's a take any food you like in bar.

Dominoes right next door so we grab a booth and order a mammoth amount to soak up the beer whilst watching the Champions League.

When I'm at home I'm always like "why does everyone leave before all the races have finished?" and when I'm there the last two races are always so sketchy crowd wise. The 5:30 in particular always has a bad vibe

The vibe has definitely changed for the worse on course the last few years especially the Thursday and Friday which is why I'm cutting it down to going racing just the first two days next year. Looking forward to watching racing in the pub the final two days. We'll still be getting up early, going for breakfast, doing the bookies tour and drinking as much and meal after, but without the hassle.

                        I'm surprised by this
Aren't you a Best Mate man, maybe that contributes, or are you referencing Tatts/Club too ?

When the changes were made to the course moving between stands, paddock, bookies etc was much improved from where it was, I'd say things now are as good as they've ever been.
I'm sure there are idiots that blight our lives around every corner, not just the festival, but I see very few of them in Club/members, though of course these areas come at a cost.
For balance, I'd say my festival experience is generally about as positive as it has ever been...

Yeah, Best Mate is my go to. Have been over the other side several times and found it too busy. Couldn't get to the Ring and the toilets and the bar situation was just impossible.

You might find that has changed since the course modifications, and of course the restrictions now imposed on capacity....

I'm not going to try and find out now. Stick to Best Mate Tuesday/Wednesday when the proper racegoers are there. That'll do me.
