  • 2024 Ryanair Chase

Paul Nicholls name checking the race for Stage Star in his stable tour and Joseph O’Brien saying Banbridge will stay at mid-trips for the moment so the Ryanair and Melling Chase are obvious targets but he won’t want it testing.

    Betting;

    Jonbon 6-1
    Allaho 7-1
    GDM 8-1
    El Fab 10-1
    Banbridge 14-1
    Shishkin 14-1
    Stage Star 16-1
    Envoi Allen 16-1
    Impervious 16-1
    Ferny H 16-1

    20-1 Bar.

Quite few at top of list prob won’t go now - incl Jonbon after sad news on Ener

So value on Stage Star & Banbridge who likely do looking ok

Those liking real long ones - got bit of 50 plus on exchange for Shiskin, plus maybe 60ish with boost on Hitman not totally mad

Banbridge is the only one iv played so far

Looks like being a very weak grade 1 if allaho doesn't come back

10 horses listed shortest very possible only 3 will turn up in banbridge, stage star and envoi

Envoi is too old (i try to avoid 10yos unless they are top class like an allaho in this field), stage star isn't a horse iv ever taken too so went Banbridge

And even he has doubts regards soft ground and re routing to Aintree If the rain falls

My thoughts copied from Charlies Diary back in August...

I'm guna argue that Saint Roi is a cracking price for the Ryanair at 50s too

Not far behind the very top 2m novice chasers last season in Ireland, before being beaten by the fresher Banbridge who skipped Cheltenham in the Manifesto Novice. I think he would reverse form with him this season if they met again over 2m4.

Banbridge is a best price 16s, Saint Roi is a best price 50s

Saint Roi is priced more on his poor showing in the Punchestown novice at the end of a long season for him when he jumped poorly. Looking at the market, the race could cut up hugely and if he runs a respectable race on seasonal debut, he'll be no where near that price!

Jonbon - going champ chase route (unless he's hammered prior fez which is unlikely) **Now very unlikely to come here with the energ news)**
Allaho - Stomach bleed, huge question marks
        El Fab - Champ chase
Envoi - will be 10yo come fez, hard to string 2 good runs together
Impervious - 50/50 which way she'll go, JP might just go the proven winner route. **Injured**
        Shishkin - 3m campaign
Stage Star - Likely candidate, beaten by both Saint roi and Banbridge at aintree though
Ferny - couldnt be backing him to make a race **Another setback**
Saint Sam - needs to prove hes g1 level

Energumene is a potential big gun coming out. Stage Star and Envoi for me all day long.

Perhaps if Impervious comes back sound she could still take her chance. Might even look easier than the Mares Chase!!!

Banbridge just can't be backed AP for the Festival. Clearly ground dependant which is just too risky. He's a NRNB horse all day long.

Couldn’t agree more. Plenty of value in this market, have backed Bronn 40/1 Saint Roi 50/1 & a speculative free bet on Sir Gerhard at 50/1

Still can’t shake the feeling Jonbon will end up here after showing he doesn’t have as much boot as he previously had. Have him in some nice reverse multiples with El Fabiolo & a few other! Nicky has mentioned stepping him up this season on a couple of occasions.

Won’t need much boot to accumulate a string of 1s this season prior to Cheltenham. Apart from possibly edwardstone who is there to give him a race? Energumene now out for the season no way jonbon steps up in trip

He could struggle in the Tingle Creek if something like an Editeur Du Gite bolts out in front & Edwardstone puts his jumping under pressure over the railway fences, by Nicky’s own admission he’s a different horse temperament wise than he was previously & was in line to run over 2m4f at Aintree before they de the 2m option was a far easier alternative. I think he’s a mid distance horse nowadays

The only way I can realistically see him stepping up is if Dysart Dynamo beats him in the Tingle Creek, assuming it’s still the plan for him to come over.

Cheers pal. Nicky is basically telling us he'll come here isn't he? I might 6/1 boosted actually, best its going to get
