  • I think people should remember how far the Irish juveniles were ahead of the Brits last season.
And the sheer number that Mullins has this season. Meaning the best of his is likely to be pretty good. IMO

Added to the fact that Burdett Road may well have been massively over rated in the market. So flattered Gino a little.
Having said that, my 2 main darts back in September/October were Sir Gino and Salvator Mundi, as that looked the best form from France at that point.

Obviously I'd still rank Sir Gino as warm favourite but he's no banker.

    • 10/1 still with Boyles - I'd be backing that each way

Sir Gino clipped in to odds on is a bit funny, he'll be available bigger on the day ..... but he probably just wins doesn't he....

      • Obviously pocket talking but there was a bit to like about Buntings run in defeat.

Possibly done for pace at one point but battled back in the home stretch, got tight for room, came out and still stayed on. If they had more runs I'd be looking at Boodles there.

I reckon he’ll be kept a maiden now and run on the flat over the summer.

            • Kargese runs in the famous Honeysuckle silks, like Gala Marceau, and owner Kenny Alexander has another nice filly for the future, as she won by a length and a quarter from Storm Heart, with Majborough another half a length back in third and Bunting a close fourth.

She was cut to 8-1 from 25s by Coral for the Triumph Hurdle, for which Sir Gino is favourite.

“She was too keen with Danny at Christmas,” said Mullins.

“The plan today was to make the running and it just shows you that we don’t even know what we’re doing at this stage!

“Next thing, Mark (Walsh) jumped out and made the running, his horse was galloping and Danny settled the filly in. She was much more settled today after blowing away the cobwebs at Christmas.

“Mark was very happy with Majborough and thinks he’ll improve for that run. He gallops and jumps and he’s more of a chaser to look at.

“Paul felt that Storm Heart probably got stuck in the ground and was a bit keen with him as well.

“I was delighted with the way Bunting stayed on from behind, he was doing his best work at the end and is improving as well.

“They all ran well today and have booked their tickets for the Triumph.

“It’s going to be hard to beat Nicky Henderson’s horse, Sir Gino. We have our work cut out with him.”

              • I think we could see three high class juveniles going novice chasing next season. Sir Gino looks like he’ll head that way and I’d be surprised if Majborough didn’t too. Throw in Kaliff Du Berlais for Nicholls and they’re a very interesting bunch for chasing.

Although there is no WFA allowance any more, most seasons you still get 4yo going novice chasing with various degrees of success. The three above do look above average compared to recent horses though and could challenge the older brigade at the business end of next season.

I know he’s more experienced but ile de francais shows age is not the issue.

He’s 6 though? Unless I’ve completely missed the point you’re making.

                      • Whilst they finished in a bunch today I'd still take the winner out of that race because she was swinging away the whole race and just seemed to idle when she hit the front. The normal pace of a Triumph will suit her as she jumps/travels so well and can be put anywhere in the race and she looks the Irish number 1. That said, for me Sir Gino is a few lengths better than her.

Yes and specifically that they may bypass the Triumph for the MNH at Fairyhouse

                            • Mighty Bandit to Warren Greatrex apparently. May as well throw the Triumph slips in the bin.
