  • 2024 Triumph Hurdle (Juveniles)

    Nicky Henderson stable tour re Sir Gino;

    ’He won his only start in the Wild Monarch at Auteuil in April and that race has a habit of throwing up some pretty smart horses. He’s a gorgeous individual with the size and scope to jump fences in time, but he is still qualified to run in juvenile hurdles, and we hope he can progress and be a high-class juvenile.’

    He was still 20-1 earlier this morning but 365 have now cut to 16-1.

    Betting;

    Ethical Diamond 16-1
    Salvator Mundi 16-1
    Bunting 16-1
    Sir Gino 16-1

    20-1 Bar.

    Salvator mundi at the moment for me, sir gino beat him but the irish dominance in the last 3 years couple that with salvator having a better pedigree especially for the triumph that suits future stayers

      Sir Gino the only one i have backed and think he could be the one to do ok now with others like Mundi being better longterm.

      Would need Willie’s stable tour to place any further bets on the market though seeing he has 4 or 5 potential top ones for this and with all different owners.

        Much appreciated Eggs
        I would not normally look at this race too much this early, but at that price and from that stable with what his trainer is saying, I will have a small wager.
        I can see this one shorten and possibly become a live contender.

            Can’t see him priced up anywhere yet but wouldn’t want to alert the bookies and then get a price of 16/1 or something. Would be of interest though considering Milton’s recent exploits with juveniles

              Recent exploits in being competitive in the Triumph?

                Not necessarily in the triumph but in British juvenile races. Knight Salute and Scriptwriter won their fair share and can recall both being in and around 16/1 while at least double would’ve been available earlier in the season. A nice trading opportunity. It may not work out the same this season, particularly if the British challenge is stronger (which it looks like it may be with Sir Gino) but that was my thinking not that he’s necessarily going to win the triumph

                  If I was a bookie and I was asked to price up a Milton Harris horse for the Triumph, I'd request an affordability check or recommend self exclusion
                  In all seriousness though, he will mop up some races during the season. I just can't see him troubling the judge come March.

                    Careful backing him, word that he's being kept for next season from someone who should know

                      Thanks darlojim

                      Have you heard if Bunting will be campaigned as a juvenile? Have you got any WPM juvenile on side yet?

                        I've not heard whether or not Bunting will run as a 3yo, but hes one I do have onside yes. If I was starting fresh though, I'd absolutely want Sir Gino in the book, he's got plenty going for him.

                          Cheers Darlojim

                          I have taken a very strong position on Sir Gino, just wanted to assess potential dangers. If Gino is very good Juvenile you would think a Mullins or Elliott horse would be the only major danger to him. Bunting & Mundi looked the most interesting out of the Mullins potential juveniles so I would be happy to see both kept back this season.

                          Gino was a little too keen in Auteuil so hopefully Henderson & Nico can switch him off in his races this season. Wonder if they will take the Apple's Shakira route with him.

                            i dont understand why? He looks a great horse to go with for this years juveniles and his form is solid, why hold

                              He'd still be a novice. So a further year to develop and then a supreme / Ballymore target as a 5yo more likely to lead to long term success...
