Champion hurdle is the more prestigious race so they may want a good chance in that rather than two in the stayers. I'd imagine both Gordon and especially jack would be pushing for champion hurdle if con hill is out, depends on owners after that.
Yep, can see why Jack might want him to go CH for a decent spin in the race. Won't be winning though if SM runs his race. Hope Robcour have big balls and insist on him going Stayers but beginning to doubt it. IMO he's the better horse of the two but the ones that matter don't appear to agree......or do they ?? We'll see.

Boom. Well said speedy. Spot on.

Price money is also 30k more for 2nd in the champion hurdle. Makes complete sense to me to send Irish point to a poor looking Champion Hurdle (bar state man).
Makes no sense at all. No chance he beats SM and the money difference is of no significance to the owners. They need winners now and the Stayers gives them a huge opportunity of that.

Or if the same happens to Teahupoo and Irish trails in a outpaced 4th in a forgettable champion Hurdle.

            • Anyone would think the Stayers is a penalty kick for Robcour!!
I think it’s quite open and imo they should run both in the race that suits both horses best.
Both in Stayers gives them the best chance of a winner.
Split them gives them a fair chance of no winner.

              • If Robcor were JP or even Ricci, I'm sure they'd split Teahupoo and Irish Point, but they're not and haven't had many (Bob Olinger and what else?) Festival winners. The Stayers, with two darts, is a great chance for them to bag a Grade 1, lessened somewhat if Irish Point goes off to chase some Champion Hurdle place money.

Yes, and it's my pocket talking.

Had him at 25/1 and 40/1 at different points and cashed both for stake back

I haven't bothered going back to look at this race in much detail and when I do things like the above, I'm better off just leaving it alone

                      • Similar here, I have a small book covering the race but if FP storms home I'll rue not having him on board

He’ll have already had a winner by then
