I'd give the devils coachman a good chance of reversing the form of that race if they met again over 3 miles

Was one of several horses ridden miles to far back in this race last year. But was the only one of them that got involved and may have still won If his jockey hadnt turned into a slalom skier down the straight.

A year older, a year stronger, unexposed at the trip

        Going there fresh this year

No French horse to contend with now

        Best British stayer is Crapbo

He can't win this renewal he will never win one
Absolutely . I’m retiring from this discussion now

Silly thing to say FF. Not backed him because I don't like his chances. That's fair yeah ? Could obviously have backed him anytime but why back something that you think cant win ?? I'd never do that.

But that was before the news today. Have Robcour ever run two in the same race at the fez?

As I say, Irish point missed the fez last year for no apparent reason whilst having a live chance in the novice hurdle races.

People (as in thr wider racing community, not singling out people on here) are obsessed with failed chasers in this race when in the last decade its been exclusively by (up to that point in their careers) hurdlers

Surely the news today would make the two of them even more certain to turn up??

No other race for either of them at the Fez.

Not sure why Irish Point missed last year. Can't even remember him last season.

This quote is from after Aintree last year and maybe explains why they decided not to go Cheltenham last year after he finished 4th at DRF:
"In the early part of the year Irish Point was very immature and I'd say those early races might have caught up with him. Gordon slowed it all down with here in mind, the bit of rain helped as well. It's credit to Gordon and Robcour. If you had to keep going to prepare him for Cheltenham, it might have just emptied the tank so they stopped, rebuilt it up, got a huge confidence booster at Naas and then came here back to the form he was in at Fairyhouse."

Unlikely to have the same issue again - I don't know if that means he would or wouldn't go Cheltenham. It stands out to me that they were initially adamant he was gonna go back to aintree though

"I don’t have an inside line, I don’t know but I do believe if it was me they’d both run. I couldn’t be honest with myself and say ‘well, I don’t need to run Irish Point because Teahupoo will win’.
"I don’t think you could be that confident so I’d be for a backup plan and I’d be having a couple of darts in my pocket so I would run the two of them. I know if they were mine they would both take their chance.

"I’d probably ride Irish Point – Teahupoo has tried and failed, go with Irish Point. Go with the unknown rather than the known maybe. I do think Teahupoo is a better horse on soft ground. I know people from within the camp are saying not and they have to believe that, but I think his best form is with cut in the ground."

"I’d be surprised if Impaire Et Passe were to go up to three miles. To me he hasn’t raced like a three miler this year, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t kept at this shorter distance," he said.
"Sir Gerhard won at Punchestown on New Year's Eve, first run over hurdles for a long time, two and a half miles and went and got the job done and has to prove that he stays. Providing he stays in one piece he’ll line up, but just does he stay or not, it’s an unknown. He’s tried it over fences, he hasn’t tried it over hurdles – he should stay but I couldn’t guarantee you that he’s going to stay."
