Hello Fat Jockeys,

  • Buddy One improving quickly and only 6yo. Wouldn't be the first horse to come from left field to the Stayers... Must be well into the 150s after that. Got tired after the last and the second was off basically no weight, so think he's actually much better than winning distance as well.

Would still want a massive price for this mind. See if he gets added on exchanges.

I'm looking at backing 2nd, 3rd season horses, that are setting up to 3 miles for the first time this season. Not backing anything that ran in the stayers in March

.... and I thought that was a really good performance there! So much so, I've back him for the stayers at 33/1
As you mentioned, only 6. Ran in two 3 mile handicaps and won them, today he won fairly easily - second was carrying 10-2.
Could improve to be a 160 horse, yeah, he'll need to improve further but I'll take the 33/1 (BFair SP)

He's been add on the exhanges, 25's

Like it! At least I can't be going completely mad...

I'm going to wait until midweek and see if the exchanges have forgotten who he is and I can get a bigger price. Or I'll take that 33s with a free bet... Can't imagine they'll be much love for him.

        • Bob would win any mid trip hurdle at The Fez but unfortunately there's not one. Very good today though and always looking like He'd win. Travelled beautifully.

Whilst I agree he is the right sort of profile for the race, worth considering that the jockey wouldn't be able to claim in the Stayers. Hardly run a bad race outside of maiden company though. 33/1 is fair without me wanting to rush out and back it. Potentially could look to get him qualified for the Pertemps where the jockey can claim.

Don’t know if you saw but the trainer has name checked the race if all goes well at the Hattons Grace. Looks a fair bet to me.

              • I like Buddy One for the Stayers too, took the 33/1 with a boost to 35/1 with PP. His profile is very similar to the first Stayers Flooring Porter won, progressing out of handicaps in a very open division. Related double with Iroko for the Turners anyone?

Every so slightly put off by the jockey not being able to claim 7

Related double idea is excellent though, if I knew Iroko's target!

Going the Hatton's grace next and that will be interesting as a fair grade jump for him. Rates well on the clock yday vs the other hurdles, quickest circuits etc and despite finishing laboured only 5/6l from 2 out vs the speedy Juvenile(he was impressive himself off the pace and obvs very sharp). He's the same price as Springwell Bay antepost (not to say that makes it a bet) but he achieved far more yday than that horse.

Obviously nothing is certain but did you see one of the trainers (I didn't catch if it was Greenhall or Guerrerio!) After Homme Public win Friday? Interviewer asked about Iroko and his plan, and they said after thinking about it they're probably going to stick to 2 and a half... Would say he's nailed on to run in the Dipper on New Year's Day, and a run somewhere before hopefully? I think, and hope, he goes to turners, people can say that JP has this for that but he's got an embarrassment of riches in the novice chasing division so plenty will be taking each other on come the fez.

                        No Dipper anymore. Unbelievably!

Did you have a link to the interview?

The Dipper got binned in the schedule shake up as a few have mentioned, he would of relished that thou.

DOH, didn't see that, is the Scilly Isles still going?

For the interview the only way to find it is on ITV X Player, search for ITV racing, go to Friday's programme, chronically wait for the adverts at the start, then skip to 54:00 mins in and there's about 10 seconds on it, but it's there.

                            • The talk about West Balboa (Skelton's comparison to Roksana in his stable tour for example) seems to point her down the Mare's Hurdle route, does anyone think she still could come here? I know Saxon Warrior you have her tipped for this, are you still on that page?

I've only backed her for the Mares Hurdle and at the end of Skeltons latest stable tour in the two for the tracker he is quoted as saying "West Balboa has started her season very well and indicated she's one to follow in the big mares' hurdles".

He couldn't be more obvious than that, though it was suggested by some of here who have an ear in to the yard that the Stayers was the plan, I'm not and wasn't convinced.
