I imagine it will be a ground dependent decision. I suppose the other factor could be cheltenham experience. Teahupoo has been to cheltenham twice whereas it's a complete question mark for IP. Really hope JK gets to make the decision, so unlucky with injuries.

Although IP has form on soft I do think T is the better of the two on that sort of ground.
If it was good/soft I would be a tad more confident for IP.
Be very interesting if they both go for this.
Teahupoo is more ground dependant of the two IMO but my thoughts are that he is better horse over the mid trip when the mud is flying and that Irish Point looks like he absolutely loved the step up in trip and that there could be any amount of improvement when he runs in the Stayers.

That race over Xmas was more like a 2m4f race they went so slowly

Suspect there won't be a strong pace in this either though as there are very few front runners likely to run

This will suit teahupoo and Irish Point

Not sure it'll suit theleme who looked a proper stayer to me in the couple of races iv seen

I will cover Irish point on the day as can see him drifting with kennedy very likely to be on teahupoo as long as the ground is gd to soft or worse

        • I'd expect JK to choose Irish Point over Teahupoo whatever the ground. He just seems to have far more scope for improvement and Teahupoo was disappointing last year in what looked an inferior race to this.

His form isn't as good and he's never run at the track

Be very surprised if Kennedy chose Irish point

I'd honestly be surprised if he stuck with Teahupoo. The fact they are now going to run IP speaks volumes for me .

So it’s now a fact that he’s going to run is it?

Yes, gordon said it's now likely. Few pages back I think

                    • Ruby and Rory both put up Ahoy Senor at 40s for an outsider to run well at a price. So won’t be surprised if that receives a haircut soon

Odd that he's entered in the Cotswold Chase but not the Cleeve Hurdle this weekend, if the Stayers was going to be the plan.

They, like many of us, imagine he will make at least one bad race ending mistake and assume even connections as stubborn as these will finally accept defeat. In other words the trainer and her husband /partner don’t realise it’s a plan yet.

Aye, I think a mistake or five in the Cotswold is more than likely
And could result in running in the Stayers. I just don't think that's a great prep for it. If I was a backer for the Stayers I'd want him prepping in the Cleeve.

100% hence the inclusion of the stubborn reference

                              • Couple of interesting entries in Cleeve Hurdle. Marie's Rock.......thought she was definitely Mares Hurdle bound? Win Saturday and the Stayers will clearly be back on.

Good to see West Balboa in there. May go to Doncaster instead but that race could be red hot with Ashroe Diamond and Gala Marceau very likely runners (Lossiemouth will go Unibet or Irish Champion imo) so she may be given a chance to resurrect her Stayers aspirations. Clearly her last run was too bad to be true. Wouldn't be surprised to see some head gear on her or a different bit as she was very head strong last time.
