  • Has anyone heard any news on Shoot First? Looked a possible contender for this, but not seen for some time now.

    • Impaire Et Passe will be entered in the Reelkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Run on the New Course at Cheltenham over 2m4. Am I reading too much in to this but seems a strange option for a Champion Hurdle horse. Could he end up in The Stayers and leave Champion Hurdle to State Man ? Plenty of Blue on Oddschecker too.

      • I quite like Blueking D'oroux as an outsider for this race, 66/1 With bet365.

Worth a poke EW as seems to be unexposed, ive backed him EW in the longwalk at 16s on Saturday. Fingers crossed he stays.

I'm not really interested in him for this. But I would be for the Longwalk. I'd not seen he was entered there. 16's is a very fair price.

Nothing wrong with the poke.... but surely backing at 16/1 then investing the profit at whatever price he went would be more profitable than 66/1 outright?

            • Aye, I appreciate it's a Cheltenham forum but... It's a case of being too focused on the festival that imo. 16s to beat that field on Saturday or 66s for the Stayers is an easy decision surely. You take the 16s and then you decide afterwards if you've any interest in the Stayers or not.

Basically the only scenario that'd look a mistake is if he's 20 lengths clear when he comes down at the last...

He'd be a bit young for me like. Do 4yos win Long Walks? Don't think many 5yo win Stayers.

I'm happy to risk 1pt EW at 66s in the event he wins, as he would be cut all the way down to 10/1 or something. Which may lead to a positive cash out option.

I also don't like to stake too heavy antepost incase they dont turn up. The most i have on any single is 5pts, I still haven't got over Ferny Hollows failed Arkle season..

The race has only existed in its current form since 1972 but no 5yo has won it in that time.

I'd say if anyone has more than 5pts on bet they have the value of 1 point scaled too low

Iv always thought of 5 points as max bet

1pt is standard bet 5 points max bet for me

This post all adds up to just backing him for Saturday to be honest.

The lad gave the horse so much to do the last day, he did the last furlong 6 lengths quicker than slate lane that day.
He's just went toe to toe with paisley park up the running.
I'm just so glad he won today after the last day.
He's a contender for march that's for sure, he'll love the stayers, perfect race for him.
