Wide open race but Teahupoo is now a horrible price with that latest news

IF he was a confirmed runner, he'd be fav, and a strong one at that for me.

I also, have gone in again haha

The french horse might of beaten a field of Irish but it was after the season and he has kept beating the same horse in Hermes Bais and also was beaten by Goa Lil. Most races on heavy ground too, what’s the appeal to him?

Theleme is an absolute class act in France, the real up and coming stayer superstar overseas.

He comfortably dispatched all before him in the Grande Course de Haies D'auteuil at just 6yo beating some real seasoned stayers posting a nice RPR whilst doing so. You only have to look back to earlier in the season and he thwarted the classy Il Est Francais on the bridle over 2m4, this is a very exciting horse who is versatile at trips also.

Go take a look back at the race when he was beaten by Goa Lil, practically a no-contest as they let Goa Lil go 20L clear the whole race.

Its what they constantly said even pre-festival, all about 3 mile chasing this season. A fence and a trip.

The Rich stuff has been a bit odd but obviously crossed wires somewhere and threw a big spanner!

SG wouldn't get 3 miles at Cheltenham in a horse box

Only problem is due to his injury record the nice guy can only be backed NRNB or with free bets

You don’t think Sir Gerhard could?

Pulled half the race in the Ballymore in a bog over 2m5f and won comfortably, appreciate the new course is a stiffer test but if he’s settling see no reason he wouldn’t stay 3m imo.

I'd think it very very unlikely he stays the trip strongly enough to be winning a stayers hurdle

He tanked into the ballymore like a 2 miler, his class won him the race

He folded in the BANC like a complete non stayer, you can blame the jumping but he did travel very nicely then went out the back of the tele

Aye that’s probably fair re the BANC. I just dono if he was every quite right last season in all honesty. Did seem to run a lot better at Fairyhouse but then bombed at Punchestown as he does but was found to be lame with a cut.

I think we can all agree he didn’t seem the most natural over fences at times, but the delayed start to his season would definitely not have helped matters.

                          Agreed

He's also going to be 9 the age horses tend to start to plateau (before beginning to regress once they hit 10)

And he'd need to be improving 7 or 8lbs really

Same could be said of the nice guy too but he's extremely unexposed and proven over course and distance

I need to stop talking about the nice guy because he will probably either get injured or Willie will send him over fences (NHC winner?)

Teahupoo is just the glaringly obvious one now really, he should of won last seasons renewal, was such a strangely run race and he was the only horse who came from the back to get involved. The effort of doing so on that ground, plus the jockey riding a slalom down the straight, got him beat.

He beat the other horses that were held up by 10 or more lengths.

He then went to punchestown and got badly outpaced around that speed track

But is 7/1 that appealing, probably not, but when you go through the betting its a very poor looking bunch

Of Willie's remaining horses in the Stayers betting, Sir G has had the biggest hair cut following the GW news. Into a general 20's across the board with Corals going 14's.

Is that going to happen aged 8 - I doubt it and her ability to act on the track is still (as the Bobster would say) a complete unknown.

Apologies for the negative vibes. Just an honest opinion, who knows if it’ll be proved right or wrong?
she’s improved 17lb in like 6months and mostly as a 7yo. What’s stopping her improving another 10 this side of Christmas… only raced once over 3m. Then she’d only need a few lbs as that 8yo your alluding to lol, not a backer but quite like her for the season

And West Balboa seemed to enjoy it very much, that solitary 3m effort, and win, at Aintree. Really looking forward to seeing her this season. I would seriously listen also to what Spectre says about any of Skelton's, given his links there.
