“Horses for courses”
I do think BMG would have ran close to his mark at Kempton, if he hadn’t had these two tough races… as mentioned, he’s ran 5 tough races since Boxing Day.
I can’t say “the trainer and / or connections” made the wrong call, I was close to staying that as I’ve backed BMG for the KG antepost, and therefore waited BMG protected for that race
however!!!! I don’t want to see a 4 runner Charlie hall or a 4 runner Betfair chase. I want to see these horses come out and win races outside of the fez. I want to see them go up against each other multiple times a season.
as soon as we question “why did they run him here, the x race was his target”, we’re feeding into thing cycle of picking and chosing easier races for prep runs and only focusing on 2-3 meets per year
i dont know what the answer is…. but the outcome would be to see these top horses running 4-5 times a year, and for them to clash with one another on a few - priority being the horses welfare first
